Diese Randverstärkung sichert den Film zugleich gegen Verkratzen der Schichtseite, weil in der Rolle bzw. auch in einem Bildschieber nun nicht mehr die Schichtseite unmittelbar mit der Gegenlage in Berührung kommt. Das Aufkleben bzw. Aufpressen von Randstreifen hat aber den Nachteil, daß beim Zusammenrollen des Films wegen der verschieden großen Krümmungen die inneren Klebestreifen abplatzen und die äußeren reißen.
