Description
Process for increasing the shelf life of grains of calcium cyanamide or pieces The invention relates to a method for increasing the shelf life of granules or lumps of calcium cyanamide.
Having recently succeeded in various ways, either after hydration of pulverulent calcium cyanamide or by azotizing from granular carbide or carbide-forming mixtures or by breaking calcium cyanamide blocks, To obtain calcium cyanamide in grain form, it has been found that with some Manufacturing process these grains disintegrate again during prolonged storage or for at least take on dusting properties again. There is therefore the task of the shelf life of these Yalk nitrogen grains or pieces by post-treatment to improve. It is known that s.toff grains are used in the production of calcium stick by . Breaking blocks or larger pieces of the resulting dust to reduce by agglomeration on the grains using binders, in the meantime one has painstakingly tried to avoid excessive amounts of water.
It has now been found that in an aftertreatment of calcium cyanamide grains only then a satisfactory permanent increase in the shelf life of the grains is achieved when the treatment with particularly finely divided water at below 100 ° C lying temperatures takes place and here the finely divided water in i 3% of the calcium cyanamide weight is added. The addition of water can e.g. B. 16 to? O%, but in other cases also exceed 300; o, z. B. 33% added water. The upper limit is given by the fact that the strength the grain is not endangered.
In diesem Falle tritt
For example, to practice the method of the invention Use broken calcium cyanamide, which is 13 to 3o% in amounts liquid water in suitable equipment, such as rotating drums or the like, moistened, z. B. splashed or fogged. Here it has proven to be advantageous Lime nitrogen granules not exceeding 20 mm. Grain size to use.
The method of the invention is of particular technical importance for the processing of such l #, alkali nitrogen grains, which are produced by azotization of Carbide grains in a directly suitable form for use as fertilizer Size: have been received ..
The water in liquid form can according to a particular embodiment the method of the invention also receive suitable additives, in particular those which reduce the solubility of the cyanamide and / or have fertilizing effects themselves. These include B. calcium nitrate, potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, water-soluble Phosphates, nitric acid or the like. Substances that are in solution, for. B. Ca ions can form reduce the solubility of calcium cyanamide.
Any dicyandiamide content that may occur in the end products by subsequently carefully heating the air-dry grains, which are expediently air-dried to temperatures of about 15o ° C.
The following examples serve to explain the method of the invention: Example i Raw calcium cyanamide granules from 0.5 to 2 mm. Grain size were at one Temperature .below q.0 ° C treated with 200/0 of their weight in water until the water content in the product is about 16 to 18o / o. The calcium cyanamide granules treated in this way even after 3 weeks of open storage in the air show a dust content of only 0.4% and a relative hardness of 97%. In contrast, the untreated Calcium cyanamide 2.6% dust and a relative hardness of only 75%, i.e. H. that the dust content had fallen below the 6th part of the original and the hardness was compared with 3o% that of the untreated calcium cyanamide had increased.
Beispiel 2 _ Wurden dieselben Kalkstickstoffkörner nur mit einer zur Hydratisierung ausreichenden Wassermenge (Wasserzusatz etwa 5%) behandelt, so zeigte sich nach derselben Lagerzeit unter den gleichen Bedingungen wie bei Beispiel i ein Staubanfall von i i %.Example 2 _ Were the same granules of calcium cyanamide only used with one Hydration treated sufficient amount of water (water addition about 5%), so showed after the same storage time under the same conditions as in example i a dust accumulation of i i%.
