Von dem gemäß dem Verfahren des Hauptpatents zu verwendenden Kalk bzw. der Magnesia kann ein Teil mit Vorteil durch solche wasserfreie Salze ersetzt werden, die Wasser als Kristallwasser zu binden vermögen. Dabei ist es nicht immer erforderlich, an Stelle des ersetzten Kalkes oder der Magnesia die gleiche bzw. äquivalente Menge an entwässertem Salz anzuwenden; vielmehr läßt sich in der Regel eine bestimmte Menge von Kalk oder Magnesia durch eine etwas geringere Menge entwässerten Salzes ersetzen.Process for the production of a fertilizer. Die Masse nimmt z. B. wesentlich langsamer die als Zwischenstadium des Trockenprozesses eintretende zähe Beschaffenheit an, wie z. B. Ablauge mit Kalk allein im Gemisch mit Torfmull. Das erwähnte entwässerte Magnesiumsulfat hat sich besonders gut für den vorliegenden Zweck geeignet erwiesen. Doch läßt sich eine ähnliche Wirkung auch mit anderen entwässerten Salzen für sich oder in Gemischen, z. B. Kalium-Magnesiumchlorid, Natriumsulfat, Calciumsulfat, Calcium-Natriumsulfat, Calciumphosphat, Magnesiumphosphat u. dgl., erzielen. Doch bietet die Verwendung von Magnesiumsulfat noch den Vorteil, daß leicht ein auch für den Boden besonders günstiges Verhältnis von 3 Ca0 zu z Mg0 erzielt wird, was bei der zunehmenden Bedeutung der Magnesiadüngung für bestimmte Landeserzeugnisse (z. B.
