Description
Process for the multi-stage bleaching of oils, fats, waxes and the like. The subject of the main patent is an experience for the multi-stage bleaching of oils, Fats, waxes and the like by treating the substances to be bleached at least in one stage in the emulsified state and at least one other stage in the liquid state or in the molten state with bleaching agents, preferably oxidizing bleaching agents. In general, the bleaching is done in an emulsified state with active oxygen, active chlorine, permanganates or the like. Carried out in an alkaline state. On that If the emulsion is broken by the addition of acid, the separated oil, fat, wax and the like washed and in the liquid or molten state with hydrogen peroxide bleached.
The advantage of this process lies particularly in the wax industry in the use of mild reagents, which gives the wax its properties retains what is expressed in the preservation of the so-called wax constants, while immediately neutral wastewater is created.
In some cases, however, the effect of the bleaching process is sufficient not the main patent. Unfavorable results can namely due to the present of inorganic acid in the bleaching stages in which those to be bleached Substances in liquid or molten state treated with hydrogen peroxide will.
The bleaching in the liquid or molten state is generally carried out after previous bleaching in emulsified state and after removal of the emulsion state, which is generally achieved by the addition of acid, e.g. B. sulfuric acid happens. if also the fat, oil, wax and the like separated out by repeated remelting is freed of acids and salts with water, this treatment is not sufficient to to remove the last traces of acid, especially since the clarification is seldom so complete runs that a sharp separation between melted fat, oil, wax and the like. and water enters. Most often, depending on the quality of the fat, Oil or wax and the apparatus more or less thick intermediate layers that partly with further processing and small amounts of acid in the fat, oil or Bring wax into it.

Suitable additives include alkalis, such as ammonia or sodium hydroxide, alkaline alkali salts, such as sodium acetate or soda, or alkaline earth oxides or hydroxides, in particular magnesium oxide can be used. However, it has been found that with particular advantages such alkaline additives used with the acids to be neutralized do not result in acidic compounds. So is the sodium acetate Not very suitable as an additive because it neutralizes the inorganic Acetic Acetic Acid is set free. Those alkaline are particularly suitable Active additives that are exclusively neutral with the acids to be neutralized or almost neutral compounds. Albeit a small excess of this alkaline substances are not harmful, so it is best to use them Use amounts of these additives that the bleach is in neutral or near neutral State at pH values between 7 and 8.5.
Man verwendet zweckmäßig etwa o, i bis o,- -% Magnesiumoxyd. The best results are obtained with magnesium oxide because it is perfect reacts neutrally and supplies completely neutral reacting salts. One uses expediently about o, i to o, - -% magnesium oxide.
The neutralizing alkaline addition can also be done by that bleaching is done with hydrogen peroxide with the addition of so much alkali peroxide occurs that the existing inorganic acid is neutralized or only slightly Excess amounts of free alkali arise, so that pH values are significantly above 8.5 cannot be achieved.
in geeigneter Weise z.
Congo wax, is first made in the usual way over sulfuric acid Water melted for clarification and pre-cleaning and then the pre-bleaching with q.% sodium peroxide in a known manner, by using the wax about twice the amount of hot water with the addition of 10% of the weight of the wax emulsified on sodium hydroxide and gradually the cold amount in about aof the amount Water dissolved sodium peroxide is added, the temperature at about 9o to i oo ° is held. After the active oxygen has been consumed, the emulsion is through Addition of dilute sulfuric acid in a slight excess, broken the wax through Introduction of steam clarified as well as possible and allowed to settle. The lower aqueous Layer is now peeled off.
Dann läßt man gut absitzen. You now add o, i% of magnesium oxide (burnt magnesia) to the wax and treated in a known manner with q.% hydrogen peroxide (q.oojoig) at 90 to 100 ° with stirring. After the bleaching is finished, the wax is hot Water and adds so much dilute sulfuric acid that the magnesium oxide in Solution works. Then one lets sit down well.
The wax bleached in this way is much lighter in color than in in the same way, without the addition of magnesium oxide, wax bleached.
a. The way of working corresponds to example i with the difference, that the same amount of sodium bicarbonate is used in place of magnesium oxide. The lightening is the same as when using magnesium oxide.
