B. die im Bergbau zum Antrieb von Förderbändern und Schleuderbändern benutzten Rollen oft durch die schmirgelnde Wirkung des Fördergutes stark abgenutzt. Es ist deshalb vorgeschlagen worden, die Rollen aus naturhartem Stähl herzustellen, aber das hat den Nachteil, daß die Bearbeitung der Rollen zu schwierig und zu teuer ist. Oft genügt außerdem die Verschleißfestigkeit dieses Stahls nicht. Das Außenhärten der Rollen durch Einsatzhärtung ergibt keinen den entstehenden Kosten entsprechenden Erfolg.Transport rollers with a hard outer shell are subject to transport rollers often heavy wear on the outer surface. Erfindungsgemäß wird für den Rollenmantel als Ausgangsmaterial eine Verbundblechplatte benutzt, welche eine die Außenfläche des Mantels bildende härtbare Schicht und eine die Innenfläche desselben bildende nicht härtbare Schicht aufweist, und es wird der Rollenmantel erst nach seiner Herstellung, also insbesondere nach der Herstellung der Bohrungen bzw. i`Tuten für die Befestigungsmittel derart gehärtet, daß eine glasharte Außenschicht entsteht, während die Innenschicht weich und zäh bleibt. Nur eine derart hochgehärtete Laufschicht kann der schmirgelnden Wirkung des Fördergutes widerstehen. Daß eine solche Schicht sehr spröde ist und gegebenenfalls springt, ist bei der Verwendung einer Verbundplatte ohne Bedeutung, da auch nach dem Springen der gehärteten Schicht deren einzelne Teile in ihrer Stellung verharren, weil sie mit der zähen Unterschicht verschweißt sind.
