Description
Process for bleaching animal fiber It is known that there is for bleaching animal fibers with oxygen-releasing solutions; z. B. hydrogen peroxide solutions, There are various options, such as alkaline bleach, when called alkali mostly ammonia and water glass, sodium pyrophosphate, trisodium phosphate as stabilizers and the like, which in turn increase the alkalinity even further. It is In contrast, however, the bleaching of animal fibers is sometimes advantageous in acidic solution. The acidic bleaching results in better fiber protection, on the other hand, however, it often leads to a reddish hue, which is very undesirable is.
It is now already known that in oxygen-releasing solutions with the addition of aluminum salts, especially potassium alum, certain articles with good Success can bleach.
The present method now makes it possible to use animal fibers particular success through the use of such weakly acidic ones containing magnesium salts To bleach oxygen-releasing liquors containing about 0.1 to 0.1 g of sulfuric acid and contain about 10 g of a magnesium salt, in particular magnesium sulfate, per liter. Naturally, the addition of acid depends on the pretreatment of the animal fibers, z. B. in the case that alkaline washing has preceded, or treatment with fatty alcohol sulfonate and ammonia or other alkaline or acidic mills. The addition of the specified Amount of magnesium salt to the acidic bleaching liquor has shown that in this way the unpleasant reddish color that so often occurs in acidic solutions is avoided will. The weakly acidic treatment also results in very good fiber protection and also creates a good shine on the fiber. The degree of bleaching achieved is essential better than that in a purely acidic hydrogen peroxide bleach liquor.
Compared to the known method, in particular the method for The new one offers bleaching with oxygen baths containing acidic aluminum salts Invention in some respects a number of notable advantages.
As an essential moment of the new invention it should be emphasized that Surprisingly, the addition of the specified amount of magnesium salts to the acidic bleaching liquor has a strong stabilizing effect. It was found that consumption of active oxygen in acidic baths without additives or in baths, the aluminum salts contain, is considerably greater than the consumption in baths, the magnesium salts contain. The result is an average of twice as much additional consumption the already known procedures.
B. in Bädern, die bei gleichem Gehalt an aktivem Sauerstoff io g Alaun je Liter enthalten, io - 5,6 ccm n/ i o Na O H (Methylrot), bei Magnesiumsalz nur höchstens io=o,6ccm nlioNaOH.In addition, the baths made with aluminum salt have a whole significantly higher acid titre than those made with magnesium salt. The acid titer amounts to z. B. in baths that have the same active oxygen content Contains 10 g of alum per liter, 10 - 5.6 ccm n / 10 Na OH (methyl red), with magnesium salt only at most io = 0.6ccm nlioNaOH.
The possibility of working in weakly acidic baths is natural in the interest of protecting the fibers of large bed turrg. Since you also have to stand up Bath works is the accumulation of acid when using aluminum salts a 'very unpleasant side effect. The high addition of acid is particularly effective even if the bleach liquor is allowed to dry out, the fiber structure is unfavorable 2t4. These disadvantages are completely eliminated with the addition of small amounts of magnesium salts, on the contrary: when the bleaching liquor is allowed to dry out, the addition of magnesium salts beneficial to the fiber.
In addition, the pre-bleached wool or animal fiber becomes multiple then colored. In this case, the aluminum salt remaining on the fiber becomes act directly as a stain, whereas this is not the case with magnesium salt. Because now in the case of animal fibers, in general, only a negligible amount of mordant dyes come into use, the aluminum salt remaining on the fiber has an extraordinary effect interferes with the subsequent dyeing process and is usually a level dyeing impede. This disadvantage does not occur when using magnesium salt.
The use of magnesium salts in cotton bleaching is known. A special feature is the use in a strongly alkaline bath, mostly in connection with water glass, highlighted.
(66° Be) enthalten.
