Description

It has been found that effective laxatives can be obtained if one Deoxycholic acid precipitates from solutions of its salts in the presence of aloe extracts. the new products now contain part of the aloe extract, but apparently just that most effective components of the same, chemically and physically bound.

Deoxycholic acid and filicic acid have probably already been converted into choleic acid by treating aqueous solutions of their alkali salts with acids. If, in the present case, choleic acids should actually arise, there is a fundamental difference compared to the processes mentioned, because the possibly added component is not a water-insoluble, easily soluble alkali metal forming acid as there and the conversion of glucosides, in particular of the present type, into choleic acids would mean quite 1 new fact. If, however, as is to be assumed, no choleic acid is present, the result of the process is all the more surprising since it has already been recommended to bring aloe into solution by adding sulfuric acid to the drug; the precipitability of aloe solutions, in particular the selective precipitability of their active constituents by acids in the presence of deoxycholic acid, was therefore in no way to be expected.

The laxative effect of the aloe extract is so increased in the new preparations that 1 Z 5 to 1 Z 10 of the usual dose of aloe is sufficient to achieve a safe and at the same time quite mild laxative effect. As a result of the low dose of aloe, there are no unpleasant side effects when the products are administered, just as the counter-indications known for aloe are not observed. The new products also have the advantage that, in contrast to most laxatives, they do not get used to them when they are used continuously, and even with repeated use you can gradually decrease the dose. The remedy thus allows chronic constipation to be influenced ethiologically to a certain extent.

Beispiel 1example 1

In a dissolution of 50 g of deoxycholic acid in just enough Quantities / 1 NaOH solution becomes an alcoholic Dissolution of 25 g of aloe extract, the ι mole of HCl (calculated on deoxycholic acid) is added, slowly stirred in. The precipitate is filtered off with suction, halogen-free washed and up to weight
