Description

Process for the preparation of laxatives According to the process of patent 646 595 one arrives at agents with excellent stool regulating effect, if one precipitates deoxycholic acid from solutions of its salts in the presence of aloe extract. It has now been found that products with the same effect can be obtained. can be achieved if, in place of deoxycholic acid, cholic acid, in particular also the natural mixture of bile acids obtainable by saponification of bile, is used. EXAMPLE 26o g of the bile acid mixture obtainable by saponification of bovine bile are dissolved in 15% sodium hydroxide solution and mixed with a solution of zoo g of Extractum Aloes in 100 cc of water. For this purpose, 10% hydrochloric acid solution is allowed to drip in with thorough stirring until a weakly acidic reaction occurs. The precipitate is washed out, dried and, after powdering, yields 320 g of a substance which contains the active components of aloe in a ratio of about 1: 4 bound to the bile acids and has an excellent stool-regulating effect. EXAMPLE 2 100 g of cholic acid are dissolved in an equivalent amount of 10% strength sodium hydroxide solution, 100 g of the commercially available aloe extract are added and carefully precipitated with dilute hydrochloric acid until a neutral reaction is obtained. After thorough washing, preferably by kneading, and drying, the precipitate yields 124 g of a substance which consists of about 20% active aloe constituents.
