Description
Process for the production of anti-rust pigments using of slag The invention relates to a method for the production of rust protection pigments using slag: hard coal slag that has completely passed through the molten state have passed through, especially if the same pure coal contained in excess, have silicon monoxide. It can be assumed that the remaining Coal in the molten slag, trying to burn with the Silicic acid reacts and partly directly, partly also via the. State of silicon carbide forms silicon monoxide, since only atmospheric oxygen in the slag bed is available in insufficient quantities. This residual coal content is what is explicitly stated was established, no measure of the level of temperature by which the molten liquid Slags have passed through.
Using this knowledge, the invention consists in providing anti-rust pigments by producing that bituminous coal with a high-silicon gangue at high temperatures burned with as little air supply as possible to generate a melt flow and that this melt flow is ground after solidification, so that a silicon monoxide-rich Slag is created. One improvement to the process is the melt flow finely divided to add coal.
In the invention, the idea is used, a kind of inversion a coal fire, z. B. To use pulverized coal firing with a slag bed. While with this the slag is a necessary evil and the burning of coal the main thing is, according to the new process, the coals are sorted according to their slag content select. The creation and maintenance of the slag bed is the main thing; The furnace is operated with this in mind.
Ground coal slag is used to produce rust protection pigments has already been proposed, without any further explanation of the nature of this Slags should be in order to be particularly effective. The invention goes in this Relationship further by determining the composition of the coal slag -and a manufacturing process was developed from this. From other known anti-rust pigments The invention differs in that the anti-rust pigment is practically exclusively consists of the slag produced by the process.
By grinding tests it was found that coatings with paint, containing the pigment according to the invention, adhere much more firmly than paints with colors, the slag of a boiler furnace or a metallurgical furnace contained as pigment. Particularly noteworthy is the extremely strong adhesion on special alloys, such as those used as feed for kneading and grinding mills.
H.According to one embodiment, coal with 8 to r2 v. Chr. H. gait or incombustible at a temperature of about 150 to 160 degrees. the After cooling and grinding, slag had a total silica content, calculated on Si 02, from 38.79 BC H. and a carbon content of 22.33 per cent. H.
These analytical data show that the invention Pigment is a slag in which the carbon is present in large excess is, while with the known pigments there is only a small excess of carbon. - The excess free carbon present in the pigment according to the invention is a sign that the melt flow is sufficient during slag production Contained carbon to a large part of the silicon dioxide according to the invention To reduce silicon monoxide: The melt flow obtained by "the method described has a well-defined, optionally adjustable composition, .the different Uses can be customized. It contains give silica, silicon monoxide, that has a color, anti-rust and at the same time reinforcing effect, as well as others Substances such as aluminum, manganese, iron and lime in an intimate mixture as catalysts. As a result of their formation, all components are extremely finely divided into one another. Such a milled melt flow results in a particularly hard color pigment, in which every single pigment particle has the combined effectiveness of the macroscopic has existing factors. Through the addition of the binder and through the intimate Mixing with this creates a color film after drying, which as a result of its Silica content already hard in and of itself, but hardened even more as a result is that the silicon monoxide occurs as a saponifier and with the acids present of the linseed oil, analogous to the process with red lead, forms a soap. This movie hardened by the extremely fine, even distribution of silicon monoxide. and the silica extremely evenly and is especially useful as a first coat on iron of very special hardness, almost completely impermeable to water and thus a that Iron protects against water and atmospheric oxygen and therefore prevents rust formation Color pigment.
