und muß daher entsprechend groß bemessen werden.DC generating plant; their generator by an internal combustion engine
It has already been proposed that in direct current generation systems,
in which the generator, the voltage of which is automatically kept constant; by
an internal combustion engine is driven, the speed of the internal combustion engine automatically
to regulate depending on the load in such a way that each required performance
corresponds to a certain speed of the internal combustion engine. This regulation brings
the advantage that the internal combustion engine is always loaded with the same torque
and that the amount of fuel per stroke always remains the same. This gives you see
in many cases a very good efficiency of the internal combustion engine and in each
Trap a long life of this engine. Such a regulation, however, has
the disadvantage that both the DC generator and the internal combustion engine
must be greatly oversized. The generator must namely, so that the
the voltage supplied to it remains the same at every speed of the drive machine
run at maximum speed with a severely weakened field. As a result, the generator must
be dimensioned much larger than a generator, .the constant speed
is operated. The internal combustion engine must, on the one hand, with increasing load
Apply increased torque due to the increase in load and, on the other hand, still
accelerate the masses of the generator as well as its own masses. He must therefore
in the event of load impacts, under certain circumstances, several times its normal torque are transferred
and must therefore be sized accordingly.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the figure. i is a diesel. motor which drives the main generator 2, the excitation 3 of which is connected to the busbars of the distribution network. q, is the additional generator connected in series with the main generator, whose excitation current flowing in: the winding 5. is controlled by: the automatic controller 8. The automatic 4 is driven by the motor 6, the excitation 7 of which is influenced by the controller 9. The motor 6 has a compound winding which strengthens the field of the motor and prevents the motor from working as a generator. io is. the adjustment device for 'the speed of the diesel engine i. This device changes the tension of the spring 13 of the speed controller ii, which is connected to the fuel pump via a linkage i2. of the diesel engine works. The Vers'tellvorrichtung io and the field regulator 9 of the unit motor 6 are ge. adjusted by the adjusting motor 14 together. In addition, the follower switch drum 17 is coupled to the adjusting device io. The current monitors 15 and 16 are used to switch on the adjusting motor 14 in one or the other direction of rotation.

In the arrangement described, the speed of the diesel engine is dependent on. the load is regulated in stages, namely three speed stages of the diesel engine are provided. The first lies at 50 ° 1o; the second. at 8o 0/0 normal speed, while the engine runs at normal speed. .The switchover from one speed level to the other is carried out by the current monitor-15;. i6 causes: The current monitor 1,5 = st ': so dimensioned that -it responds at a current strength of 40% of the normal current and -.Only at a .slightly lower - current strength drops again. The current monitor 16 responds to a load of 7o 0i0 of the normal current and falls accordingly. At a somewhat lower current strength, uh: -The mode of operation of the described arrangement is as follows: 'To start up the system, the speed adjustment device io of the diesel engine-i is in-one placed in such a position that the shift drum 17 coupled with this device arrives in its first position a. This position corresponds to. the lowest speed (So ° / o) -des diesel engine i: Due to the remanence of the .Generators 2, the voltage rises in this equipment, so däß the Kompoundmotor @ 6, erien- by its S%, rick lung energized starts. The automatic regulator 8 then regulates the voltage of the additional generator 4 in such a way that the total voltage of the generators 2 and 4 connected in series results in the normal busbar voltage. With a load of up to 4o o @ o the normal load, the current monitor i 5 remains in its rest position and the speed of the internal combustion engine remains approximately constant. If the network load increases so far that a current of 40% is exceeded, the current monitor 15 responds and switches the adjusting motor 14 on in an anti-clockwise direction. The circuit of this motor runs as follows: From the plus amurel rail via the upper contacts of the current monitor 15, furthermore via the upper contacts, the switching drum 17 and the field winding i4a and the armature of the adjusting motor i4 to the minus busbar. The adjusting motor 14 starts up and adjusts the spring tension of the speed regulator ii of the diesel engine i by means of the adjusting device io until the engine runs at 80% of its normal speed. As soon as the corresponding adjustment of the spring tension has been effected, the middle of the upper contact fingers of the trailing roller 17 slides off the corresponding roller covering and thus interrupts the circuit of the adjusting motor i4. The shift drum is now in its position b. At the same time, with .the change of the speed of the diesel engine i, the field of the aggregate. gatmotörs 6 is amplified by adjusting the field regulator_9 in such a way that the speed of the unit after the voltage increase in generator 2 has been increased from 50% to 80% again approximately the same as before the change. The field reinforcement of the motor 6 ensures that the EMF of the armature 6 rises faster than that of the armature 2, which must first be accelerated to the increased speed. The consequence of this is that the motor 6 initially no longer takes up any energy from the generator 2-. The compound winding of the motor 6 prevents the motor as a generator from delivering power back to the main generator 2 and so that the living power of the unit is slowed down too quickly.
If the load increases even further and finally reaches a greater one
Value as. 70% of the normal load, the current monitor 16 also responds and switches
now in turn 'the adjusting motor 14 in the same direction of rotation as described above,
a. The speed of the diesel engine is now regulated to 100 ° lo, and -the
Nac @ running switch roller 17 elongated into its position c. At the same time will also be back
the field regulator 9 of the unit motor 6 is adjusted so that the speed of the unit remains approximately constant.
Takes
the load decreases again, the switchover from
the highest speed level to the medium level with a load of about 65
° / a, in that the current monitor i6 drops out and by closing its lower contacts
the adjusting motor 14 switches on in a clockwise direction. If the burden continues
drops, the current monitor 15 also drops out at a load of about 35%
and causes the diesel engine speed to be adjusted by closing its lower contacts
from the middle level to the lower speed level.
As can be seen from the mode of operation of the arrangement described,
the maintenance of the mains voltage depends essentially on load fluctuations
depends on the lively power of the additional unit. It is therefore advisable to use the unit
to equip with additional flywheels. Under certain circumstances it may be useful
the coupling of the field controller 9. with the speed adjustment device io of the diesel engine
to be provided in such a way that the change in the excitation of the unit motor 6 with respect to
the speed change of the diesel engine i is delayed.
