Negative resistance In the patent 615 366 it is proposed to produce negative resistances certain oxides in the pulverized state between two electrodes and to make the oxides in question suitable for the negative resistance by that the pulverized oxides Aiit a sufficiently high voltage, short-term is applied to the electrodes. Zinc oxide and copper oxide were given as suitable oxides. The oxides of the metals " were examined more closely for their suitability for the above-mentioned negative resistances. A group of oxides was found which outperform the above-mentioned oxides in effectiveness, e.g. titanium acid anhydride, manganese oxide, chromium oxide, iron oxide, tungstic acid, Tin dioxide. This group of oxides is chemically characterized in that they all belong to the acid anhydrides. The more pronounced their acid anhydride character is, the more an oxide is suitable for negative resistance. The oxides with the strongest acid anhydride character and those for the invention in It is sufficient to press one of the specified oxides in the powdered state between the two electrodes. The best is the titanium acid anhydride. Mixtures of two or more of the oxides are more advantageous than a single oxide: titanium acid anhydride, manga, oxide , Chromium oxide, iron oxide, tungstic acid, tin dioxide, all combinations of these oxides below For themselves or with oxides that have no anhydride character, such as zinc oxide and copper oxide, as admixtures are useful for the mixture.
From this group of oxides there is another group of oxides
differentiate between those, such as copper oxide, uranium oxide and vanadium anhydride
(These three oxides are the most outstanding representatives of their class), for themselves
'have no or only a very slight falling characteristic, but instead
catalytic properties, by which the property should be understood, oxygen
to absorb, 'own.
Schickt man nämlich
If, according to the further invention, an oxide of the first group is mixed with an oxide of the second group, negative resistances are obtained which correspond to all practical requirements with regard to service life, operational reliability, overload resistance and constancy. This particularly advantageous mixture can be identified by a conspicuous peculiarity during the test. One sends namely a current through the mixture and holds this current constant and reads the voltage across the batch from, one if now the powder by means of the electrodes stäiker noted - is pressed, an increase of the voltage, while one would expect just the opposite. Because - with greater pressure - so, one assumes - the distance between the powder particles and the transition resistance should decrease, so the voltage would have to decrease. Indeed it is. with almost all mixtures of the case. Only with the mixtures composed of oxides of the first and second group, this is not the case. This unexpected increase in voltage can be seen directly as a characteristic of a mixture that is well suited for practical use, because it has always been observed that where this characteristic occurred, excellent, negative permanent Wi vibrations could also be achieved with the resistance.
In the mixes, an oxide of the second group was already opening up
the most decisive 'noticeable if this is only in a ratio of 2 to
ioo / o was added. #more often. even smaller quantities were sufficient. More precise information
cannot be made here because the proportion depends on the fineness of the powder
depends. By the way, it doesn't really depend on the weight ratio as much as
on the volume ratio. The cheapest volume ratio is easy to
: find, as it can be recognized by a strongly pronounced negative characteristic.
The ability to select the ratio so that the falling characteristic with good Regenerlerung in practical Anliegedrucken is good and continuously formed, forming an advantage of the negative resistances, which consist of powdered substances to a strong external cooling (down to - 12 o 'C and deeper) of negative resistance in companies has a favorable effect. The advantage of such low temperatures is, besides an improvement in the efficiency, that the frequency range within which the negative resistance is able to generate oscillations - is greatly expanded towards the high-frequency side. However, the temperature must not be chosen as low as desired and is limited by the fact that at very low temperatures the gases are liquefied which, as is known, are adsorbed and absorbed within the negative resistance. Such liquefaction must be avoided at all costs if the effectiveness of the negative resistance is not to suddenly drop to zero.
