Die Herstellung der Zargen für Saiteninstrumente erfolgt bekanntlich bis jetzt durch Anleimen von über Platten in die beabsichtigte Form geprefsten Fournirstreifen an Holzklötzchen. Letztere, die Fourniere vereinigend, geben dem Instrumente die nöthige Festigkeit zwischen Decke und Boden. Die die Zargen bildenden Fourniere mufsten überdies durch innere Verstärkungsstreifen gegen allfällige Formveränderungen gesichert werden.The production of the frames for stringed instruments is known to have been carried out until now Gluing of fournir strips pressed into the intended shape on wooden blocks. Die der Erfindung gemäfs hergestellte Zarge besteht, wie auf beiliegender Zeichnung ersichtlich, entweder nur aus einem (Fig. 1) oder aus zwei (Fig. 2) Stücken, welche, stumpf an einander stoisend, im ersteren Falle an ein an der Ober- oder Unterseite angebrachtes, im letzteren Falle an zwei oben und unten in der Längsachse des Instrumentes angeordneten Klötzchen befestigt sind. Die eintheiligen Zargen oder deren beide symmetrischen Theile werden dadurch hergestellt, dafs,..massive Holzleisten von je nach Gröfse und Art des Instrumentes verschiedener Länge, der Breite der Zargenhöhe und einer Dicke, welche der gröfsten Zargenbreite an ihren Vorsprüngen entspricht, auf die beim Biegen massiver Holzleisten übliche Art in die vorgeschriebene Form gebracht werden. Nach erfolgter Trocknung der in Zargenform gebogenen Leisten wird die rohe Zarge aufsen und, wenn nöthig, auch innen von Hand oder maschinell so weit ausgearbeitet, dafs nur an den ZargenvorsprUngen und — bei aus einem Stücke hergestellten Zargen — an der unteren oder oberen Zargenverstärkung die fertige Zarge ungefähr die Stärke " der Rohzarge behält, während sie in allen ihren übrigen Theilen nicht dicker belassen zu werden braucht, als es mit Rücksicht auf ihre Festigkeit, Widerstandsfähigkeit und durch Schallwirkung des Instrumentes nothwendig ist.
