Der in der Zeichnung in Fig. 1 im Querschnitt, in Fig. 2 im Längsschnitt dargestellte Verdampf- und Trockenapparat besteht aus einer kreisenden Trommel A, auf deren Innenfläche passend vertheilte Fächer α α angebracht sind, welche dazu dienen, die zum Trocknen bestimmten Stoffe oder Masse während eines Theiles des Trommelweges mitzunehmen und dann auf die durch die Trommel gehende Welle oder auf mit derselben verbundene Haspeln oder Flügel b b fallen zu lassen. Die letzteren sind auf der Welle/ lose angebracht und drehen sich infolge der Stofsbewegung beim Auffallen der Stoffe oder vermöge der einseitigen Belastung derselben auf der Welle unabhängig von der letzterer von aufsen ertheilten Bewegung. Die ähnlich den Garnhaspeln angeordneten Flügelrollen b b haben den Zweck, die zu trocknenden Stoffe, welche in der Trommel einer heifsen Luftströmung ausgesetzt werden, thunlichst auszubreiten, um die Wirkung der letzteren zu erhöhen. Durch die zum Schütze der Welle angebrachte Kappe c¹ sowie den von der Wand a° in das Innere der Trommel A hineinragendenden Hohlkegel a^x werden die Feuergase unmittelbar über die auf den Flügeln b ausgebreiteten oder an den Stäben und Ketten derselben hängen gebliebenen Körper geführt, mit welchem die Heizgase infolge der Drehbewegung der Trommel und der Flügelrollen allseitig in Berührung kommen und dadurch die Feuchtigkeit aus den Stoffen begierig aufsaugen, bevor sie in den Schornstein am Ende der Trommel entweichen.
