Diese neue Darre unterscheidet sich von allen bisherigen Cichorien- und Runkelrübendarren dadurch, dafs sechs Stück übereinanderliegende Darrgitter e e mit dem Schornstein g, welcher stark erwärmt wird, in Verbindung stehen, dafs das zu verdampfende Wasser von den auf den Darrgittern liegenden geschnittenen Cichorien und Runkelrüben abgesaugt wird; bei allen bisherigen Darren ist nur ein Darrgitter in Anwendung gekommen, das verdampfte Wasser mufste sich selbst einen Weg in die Atmosphäre suchen. Hierdurch entstand ein ungeheurer Verbrauch an Brennmaterial. Bei der neuen Darre wird das verdampfte Wasser mit Gewalt aus dem Schornstein geführt. Hierdurch wird das drei- auch vierfache an Cichorien mit demselben Brennmaterial gedarrt. Einen grofsen Vortheil bringt diese neue Darre ferner dadurch mit sich, dafs die Cichorien und Rüben sofort, nachdem sie geerntet, gedarrt werden können; bei den alten Darren liegen die Cichorien zehn bis zwölf Wochen unter freien Himmel, dadurch werden sie unansehnlich, lassen sich schlecht schneiden, und einen grofsen Cichoriengehalt führen die Luft und der Regen mit sich fort.This new kiln differs from all previous chicory and beet kilns in that six pieces of kiln grids ee lying on top of each other are connected to the chimney g, which is strongly heated, so that the water to be evaporated is sucked off the cut cichories and turnips lying on the kiln grids will; In all previous kilns, only one kiln grid has been used, the evaporated water had to find its own way into the atmosphere.
