Process for making duplicate photographic negatives Man
often requires duplicates of the original negative in photographic practice
are usually produced in such a way that a silver positive is produced from the negative image
and then obtain a duplicate negative from this by the usual photographic method.
Duplicate negatives produced in this way differ from the original negative in most of them
Cases in that their gradation does not exactly match the original negative
and also have a very coarse grain of silver.
It has already been suggested for certain purposes that that of the
Original negative obtained silver positive to be transferred into a dye duplicate negative.
In contrast, the present invention uses duplicate photographic negatives
prepared in such a way that a dye image serves as an intermediate positive, of which
with white light or with the use of filters in the contrasting color, the duplicate negative
is won. With the new process, one obtains a negative instead of a duplicate dye
a silver duplicate negative as in the well-known processes, but with the essentials
The difference is that the silver duplicate negative obtained by the new process is in
the gradation corresponds exactly to the initial negative and is distinguished by the fineness of the grain
while the usual duplicate negatives are considerably more than the original
are grainier.
As has been particularly advantageous for the new method, for. B> following
Proven working method This is drawn from the original negative according to the usual procedures
Silver intermediate positive becomes with the help of an iodine-iodine-potassium bath in an iodized silver picture
converted; the iodized silver image is then with the help of a dye bath, e.g. B. with
a yellow color, stained. In this way a grainless dye intermediate positive is obtained.
This intermediate yellow dye is made with the help of blue light shining through
Switching on a blue filter in front of the copier lamp of one of the usual copier machines
is obtained, copied. After developing the negative, a duplicate negative is obtained,
which is almost grainless and with the right choice of yellow and blue color
has exactly the same gradation as the original negative.
Another advantage of the new process is that you can ever
after choosing the color of the copying light, duplicate negatives of any hardness are obtained
can. The dye images used as intermediate positives are grainless and give
for this reason very soft and fine-grained duplicate negatives. The number of at
The individual steps required by the new process are significantly fewer than the number
the individual steps that were necessary in the previously known processes, in which
Grainless dye duplicate negatives were made by some kind of inversion process.
