Abstract
The structure consists of at least one hollow steel support (2) for a concrete cover slab (1), the support being totally closed, apart from its ends, and having its inner cavity filled with a hydraulic binding agent (11) such as high performance concrete. The supports can be two in number, located beneath the roadway (5) or to the sides of the bridge above the roadway. Each support can be made, for example, from two I-section beams welded together to form parallel sole plates (12), with the beam webs forming the side walls (13). The material used for the supports can be general structural steel, steel with a high elastic limit, or structural steel with a high resistance to atmospheric corrosion.
