Abstract

The method used to determine the stability of laden ships involves setting up a test moment by transversely shifting fluid in a stabilisation tank, measuring the inclination angle, determining the stability value from the inclination angle, test moment and actual displacement and comparing the stability with a min. value. The variable test moment (M) and inclination angle (O) are measured continuously and the stability values (GM') computed continuously and stored. The trend of the stability values is shown on a display.
