Bei der Herstellung von Cigarrenwickeln sind hauptsächlich zwei Verfahren in Anwendung. Das eine ist folgendes: Die Tabaksblätter oder Blattstücke werden von dem Arbeiter einzeln aufgenommen und in seiner Hand der Länge nach zusammengedrückt, bis eine genügende Zahl zur Bildung der Einlage gefafst und ebenfalls in der Hand zusammengedrückt ist. Die so geformte Einlage wird dann in ein Umblatt eingeschlagen, und der so hergestellte Wickel kann dann mit dem Deckblatt versehen werden. Man hat nun gefunden, dafs Cigarren, welche solche auf diese Art hergestellten Einlagen besitzen, sehr bedeutende Mängel aufweisen. Unter letzteren sei nur erwähnt, dafs die Cigarren leicht einseitig brennen, was von der Ungleichförmigkeit der Wickel und der Höhlungen in denselben herrührt; durch das Drehen der Einlage beim Einschlagen in das Umblatt leiden die Cigarren Mangel an Zug und beim Bilden der Einlage aus ungeöffneten Blättern verbleibt Sand in den Wickeln.Two main processes are used in the manufacture of cigar wraps.
