Pulverförmiges Schweißmittel für Eisen, insbesondere rostsichere und hitzebeständige EdelstahlePowdered welding agent for iron, in particular rustproof and heat-resistant stainless steels
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 26. Februar 1931 abPatented in the German Empire on February 26, 1931
The invention relates to a welding means for iron, in particular rustproof and heat-resistant stainless steels. There are welding powder known, which consists of a mixture of Borax and silica exist in various proportions, e.g. B. from 75% Borax and 25% silica. Welding fluxes have also been used that are mixed from other substances, e.g. B. Welding powder made from mixtures of Borax, iron carbonate, and sodium bicarbonate are made, or those that are borax, sodium bicarbonate and ammonia salt. With these latter agents, sodium carbonate can be used instead of sodium bicarbonate be used. These latter remedies often also contain other additives, such as ammonia salt, calcium phosphate and binders. There are also such means known, the borax, table salt and lime or borous acid, pumice stone, sodium carbonate, Contain coal and calcium chloride. After all, it is also a powdery mixture for welding high-speed steel
«5 kannt, das in der Hauptsache phosphorsaures Natrium oder Kieselsäure, Soda, Roheisenpulver und geringe Mengen Calciumfluorid enthält.«5 knows that mainly phosphoric acid Sodium or silica, soda, pig iron powder and small amounts of calcium fluoride contains.
Investigations have shown that borax in the molten state on metal oxides (Scale) acts as an acid. Double borates are formed in which the free anhydride of the borax meets with the metal oxides. The metal is thus derived from the existing one Oxydic scale and the oxides that are formed during welding are freed. Are for perfect welding these operations are fundamental.
It now appears that in the prior art, of borax and silica existing mixtures of borax has melted away because of its relatively low melting point of 741 ° C above a melting point of 1470 0 C the silica already "before the actual welding may take place operation.
Welding agents, the iron carbonate, iron oxide, pig iron, ammonia salts and "coal ο. Like. Are for welding rustproof or heat-resistant stainless steel '' not usable / coal, iron carbonate or pig iron carbonize the weld seam. Sodium bicarbonate, lime and table salt have an extraordinary effect on the melt flow. These remedies can only be used with some success if the utmost care is taken use.

Diese Nachteile werden durch die Erfindung vermieden. These disadvantages are avoided by the invention.
According to the invention, 25% calcium fluoride (CaF 2 fluorspar) and 75% borax are melted together, creating a new chemical compound with a low melting point that ensures easy and even melting during welding.
The invention therefore has the advantage that the easy and uniform melting of the visual whitening agent, the bright metal is better covered against oxidizing gases and the agent has a much greater reducing power than those previously known.
One embodiment of the invention consists in the use of the agent in compression form.
