Als Flußmittel zum Löten oder Schweißen von Nickel und Nickellegierungen wurden bisher Borax und Borsäure benutzt. Es ist schon vorgeschlagen worden, diesen Flußmitteln reduzierende Stoffe bei gleichzeitiger Anwesenheit von Calciumchlorid oder anderen Calciumsalzen zuzugeben, um das Auftreten von Poren in der Schweißung zu verhindern. Überraschenderweise hat sich nun gezeigt, daß durch Zugabe von Oxydationsmitteln zu den bekannten Bestandteilen Borax und Borsäure die Eigenschaften der Schweißung verbessert werden. Zwar ist auch schon die Verwendung von Mangandioxyd als Oxydationsmittel beim Schweißen von Nickel und Nickellegierungen bekannt; die Wirkung wird aber erst vollkommen, wenn gemäß der Erfindung auch noch Halogensalze zugegeben werden.
