Process for the preparation of 6- and 7-alkyloxy-2 - 3-oxynaphthoic acid arylamides
It has been found that derivatives of 2, 3-oxynaphthoic acid =
arylamides are obtained when using alkyloxy derivatives of 2 # 3-oxynaphthoic acid, which
contain the alkyloxy group in the 6- or 7-position of the naphthalene nucleus
Condensation with primary or secondary arylamines according to known methods in
the corresponding arylamides transferred.
Tabellen an Hand zahlenmäßig bestimmter vergleichender Gegenüberstellungen ersichtlich

Beispiele 1. 218 Gewichtsteile 6-Methoxy-2

The new derivatives dissolve in sodium hydroxide solution like the usual 2,3-Oxynaphthoesäurearylamidä and partly already in soda solution. Before the previously known corresponding 2. 3-Oxynaphthoic arylamides which do not contain an alkyloxy group in the naphthalene nucleus, the 6- and 7-alkoxy-2.-3-oxynaphthoic arylamides are characterized by an increased affinity for cotton fibers, as can be seen from the following two tables using numerically determined comparative comparisons. The percentages determined indicate the amount of arylide that is absorbed on the fiber, namely the amount of arylide absorbed as a percentage of the arylide originally present in the liquor. The figures apply to a liquor ratio i: 2o and medium color strength (2 to 6 g per liter). The values were determined partly according to the coloristic method (Scheel, DissertationFrankfurt, 1924, p. = 4), partly according to the gravimetric method (Scheel, p. = 2). Control tests using both methods gave identical values. Examples 1. 218 parts by weight of 6-methoxy-2 # 3-o2cynaphthoic acid are heated to 65 to 70 ° with 123 parts by weight of 4-methoxy-i-aminobenzene and 1500 parts by weight of toluene. 70 parts by weight of phosphorus trichloride are stirred into this mixture over the course of 1 hour and heated to boiling until no more hydrochloric acid escapes. The toluene is blown off with steam. The residue can be purified in the usual way by dissolving it from sodium hydroxide solution.

Gewichtsteilen Toluol vermischt.

bei 228°.3. 232 parts by weight of 6-ethoxy-2,3-oxynaphthoic acid are stirred into 2,300 parts by weight of toluene, 10 parts by weight of aniline are added and 69 parts by weight of phosphorus trichloride are added dropwise at 80 °. The mixture is then heated to the boil until the evolution of hydrochloric acid has ended. After cooling, soda is added and the excess aniline and toluene are blown off with steam and dried. The 6-ethoxy-2,3-oxynaphthoic acid which has separated out is filtered off with suction and washed with water. After dissolving from glacial acetic acid, it melts at 228 °.
