Nimmt man
festzustellen. Dieser Grundgedanke läßt sich in sehr verschiedener Weise ausführen;
Process for the rapid cooling of hot expanded cork meal
According to patent 267 733 it is known that it can be used for the economic exploitation of the
Expansion process is necessary to cool the heated cork grist quickly.
So far, the hot cork meal has been kept in the absence of oxygen until
it had cooled down to about 100 ° C. Only then was it allowed to cool completely
Air added to the shot. Extensive tests have shown that one can, however, use crushed cork
can cool with oxygen-containing gases (air) even if its temperature
is significantly above 100 ° C. The condition for avoiding the burn is
a certain velocity of the cooling air relative to the cork. The explanation
for this is the ratio of the heat dissipated by the coolant by convection
to the heat generated by the chemical reaction of the oxygen. Taking
indicates that in the unit of time by the reaction of oxygen from a temperature
from 20 ° the temperature of the cork would be increased from about 2oo ° to 2o2 ° C, but that
the convection heat depends on the temperature difference and the speed
of the air flow removes more calories than is generated by this chemical reaction
the cork must evidently cool down. As is well known, the heat transfer coefficient increases
very much with the speed of the medium, so that by moving the cork
or by moving the medium in which the cork is located, a substantial,
Any increase in the dissipation of heat from the cork itself arises because the chemical
Heat of reaction remains approximately constant. A specific digit for the relative
Apparently, the speed between cork and air cannot be specified because
the mentioned effect is also dependent on other conditions such as your own
Temperature and size, d. H. the relative surface development of the individual
Cork particles. But it is very easy to find the right air speed by a few attempts
ascertain. This basic idea can be carried out in very different ways;
z. B. you can let the cork run through a drum in which the cork grains
moved by shovels or other devices and at the same time g. B. by
cold air can be blown. It is also useful to cascade the shot down
to move the arranged trays or vibrating sieves. Tests have shown
that in this way, with the exclusion of any fire hazard during the expansion process
accumulating, conceivably hottest cork can be cooled without it being necessary to
Use water, steam or other cold, oxygen-free gases.
It is evidently indifferent by what means the current is here
the air itself is reached, whether by mechanical or other means. In certain circumstances
A flow velocity can be sufficient, which is due to the warmth of the cork itself
brought about
is, namely by convection currents when over
a piece of cork rises directly heated air and thereby the subsequent flow
cold air is brought to the surface of the cork particle. When executing
of the method by means of mechanically generated air velocities is an air velocity
from about 5 to 10 m / sec. used and a stream of air) which the entire product
blown away at the end of a rotary kiln, into a riser of initially about
io m height. Only then does the pre-cooled cork come into a drum with a larger cross-section
than the riser, through which the air flow is now at a reduced speed
passes through, and in which the continued contact of all cork grains "through the air
is achieved by shoveling or the like. Only then is it cooled down so far
that it can be "vented" safely into still air.
This basic idea then leads to further improvements of the overall process.
In the practical application of the method it is sometimes useful to use the
Ventilation of the cork at the same time to connect a transport, with the moving
Coolant carries the cork, the specific weight of which is very low, and
This is how it arrives from the point of production to the point of use.
Furthermore, tests have shown that this process can be carried out simultaneously
an air sifting can also be combined with the purpose of keeping the air cool enough
Sorting cork according to its different grain sizes. They are procedures in and of themselves
known from the processing of cork, in which the cork comes into contact with cooling gases
comes. Here, however, these cooling gases are suggested as such, which
Although they contain oxygen, but also admixtures, which the oxygen less
make responsive. But the idea is not given that by a certain
Measurement of the speed a result can also be achieved with ordinary air
could.
