Description
Process for separating oil-containing wood sugar syrup In the hydrolysis of wood and other cellulose-containing substances by acid, in particular concentrated hydrochloric acid, a sugar solution is obtained which still contains a lot of hydrogen chloride. The Expulsion of the acid is usually the hydrolysis with hot 01 to be mixed as a heat carrier. After the hydrochloric acid has been driven off, a still somewhat acidic mixture of C51 and wood sugar syrup remains. The wood sugar syrup must be separated from this mixture and the oil recovered in as pure a state as possible for reuse after heating.
It is important that the syrup separates from the oil immediately after the driving off of the acid and corresponding thickening of the syrup, within as short a period of time as possible, so that the oil at the highest possible temperature is obtained separately without the syrup at this high for a long time Temperature must linger. This is important to avoid any damage that might otherwise occur of the carbohydrate to prevent which at a temperature of for example 65 ° C within 1 hour is already about ¢ o! O.
For this reason there is a separation of oil and syrup by mere Sedimentation is practically out of the question. Separation of the mixture by centrifugation however, encounters difficulties as the performance of the centrifuge Introduction of the oil-syrup mixture in the state in which it was after the Acid evaporation is obtained, is only relatively low.
According to the invention, the requirements of a rapid separation of oil and syrup with good performance of the centrifuge is sufficient that one of the centrifugation process a short sedimentation precedes, which, for example, to only 20 minutes Can be limited, especially if you still have a raw sedimentation Filtration, e.g. B. with porous stone, pre-sent.
The combination of sedimentation with subsequent centrifugation is not in itself new. In fact, it has already been proposed for the cleaning of oil, in the case in which a longer action of the cleaning agent on the oil is desired than is achieved by an emulsification process. subjecting the offset with the cleaning agent oil to a deposition process, before the mixture of 01 and a detergent is subjected to centrifugation to separate back to the impurities and the purifying agent from the oil. In accordance with the intention of increasing the duration of the action of the cleaning agent on the oil, only longer periods of sedimentation come into question; , completely off, so that it is quite possible to add about 2q. Allow hours to stand and, as suggested, work for each day shift of centrifuge activity from an oil reservoir that was filled the day before. Embodiment The mixture of gas oil and syrup obtained in the deacidification of wood sugar syrup with gas oil is fed through a coarse filter made of porous stones to a sedimentation vessel, in which it remains, including the filtration time, for about 20 minutes. During the settling process, most of the sugar syrup settles freely on the bottom. There is a very cloudy layer of oil over the syrup. This is fed to an acid-proof lined centrifuge of the usual type. The same machine, which of the oil-syrup mixture coming straight from the factory, delivered only 1,000 liters of incompletely purified oil per hour, can deliver about 20 cbm per hour in a completely pure state after the mixture has been pretreated.
Sending the oil-syrup mixture through capillary spaces is not essential for achieving the purpose of the invention. The effect of this Pretreatment of the oil-syrup mixture consists mainly in that the S-sedimentation is accelerated and improved. As for centrifuge performance, step an extraordinary increase of the same, if the oil-syrup mixture directly is left to sediment.
