Bei den Blenderöstöfen der Zinkhütten fällt eine nicht unbedeutende Menge Flugstaub ab, welcher reichlich Zinkvitriol und schwefelsaures Eiseiioxydul enthält und bislang fast gar nicht nutzbar gemacht wurde. Das von mir gefundene Verfahren zur Nutzbarmachung dieses Flugstaubes besteht im wesentlichen darin, dafs ich dem Flugstaub das in ihm in Form von Sulfat vorhandene Zink (10 bis 13 pCt., oft auch bis 21 pCt.) und Eisen (2 bis 3 pCt., mitunter bis 24 pCt.) durch Wasser entziehe und diese Metalle entweder direct oder indirect mit Soda oder einem anderen geeigneten Carbonat ausfälle, wodurch ich einen künstlichen Galmei mit 45 bis 50 pCt. Zink erhalte, der wieder in die Zinkfabrikation geht. Der so gewonnene künstliche Galmei enthält 45 bis 50 pCt.
