WILHELM BRINCK in LINDEN before HANNOVER. Innovation in the production of mineral lubricating oils by means of dissolved rubber.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 25. October 188g ab.Patented in the German Empire from October 25th, 188g.
According to the new process, the rubber is not melted, boiled or * with the help of special solvents, but without influencing its elasticity on cold Ways dissolved in a high boiling point mineral oil containing paraffin, a process which is based on the fact that the inventor found out that rubber is in mineral oils of the above properties is soluble in the cold.
A mineral oil produced in this way with a completely liquid consistency and thoroughly homogeneous character, which rubber in unchangeable form and elasticity in Solution holds, shows a significantly higher lubricity than other lubricants. It does not spread over those sites due to its own adhesion when used beyond, on which it is to come to the elimination of the friction. It is therefore by using the new Combination in addition to increased lubricity and great savings in material also great Achieved cleanliness.
The process is carried out as follows: 1 kg of washed rubber is cut into small pieces and distribute them evenly on the bottom of a vessel of. approx. ι qm of floor space. Then you pour 3 kg of mineral oil over the rubber and run The mixture will stand for about 24 to 48 hours, after which time it will turn into a very sticky one Has converted porridge mass. Add 20 kg of mineral oil to this, stir well and after half an hour, put the porridge on a gauze filter. As soon as no more liquid drips off, the residue is returned to the first vessel and set again Add 20 kg of mineral oil, stir and filter again after half an hour. This repeat one more 3 - to 6 times by going forward. the filtration a little longer each time, until Waiting for an hour or two and also stirring more strongly than initially. Then still The remaining small residue is when the next kilogram of rubber is treated added again before the first filtration and used. The whole procedure is at ordinary temperature. The 100 to 160 kg of liquid thus obtained are a quite homogeneous oil of extraordinary viscosity, which is used directly for lubricating purposes is to be used and contains approximately 6 to 10 g of rubber per 1 kg of mineral oil. the Solution can also be made more concentrated.
