Das Verfahren wird derart ausgeführt, daß vor dem Schmelzen und Gießen alle Fugen und Ritzen der geschlossenen Schleudergußmuffel luftdicht zugekittet werden, und daß durch eine entsprechende Röhre ein indifferentes Gas, z. B. Stickstoff, unter einem geringen Überdruck in die Schleudermuffel geleitet wird. Durch die so geschaffene Schutzatmosphäre wird eine Oxydation des Schmelzgutes verhindert. Es kann zu keiner Oxydbildung kommen, und infolgedessen ist es ausgeschlossen, daß die Einbettungsmasse, die Muffelwandungen, die Heizkörper oder das Gußmetall durch Oxydbildungen beeinflußt werden können. Das Wesen des neuen Verfahrens besteht darin, durch Schaffung der Schutzatmosphäre die Wirkung des Luftsauerstoffes auszuschalten. Durch dieses Verfahren, bei welchem das Schmelzen und Gießen von Metallen in einer Schutzatmosphäre von indifferenten Gasen, z. B. von Stickstoff, vorgenommen wird, ist es auch möglich, Metalle zu vergießen, deren Guß nach den bisherigen Methoden nicht gelungen ist, z. B. das Gießen von Aluminium-Beryllium-Legierungen u. dgl.
