herabsetzenden Verbindungen usw., bestehen.
Methods of preserving wood It has already been proposed
to impregnate the wood with aqueous solutions of protective substances that come from a
Mixture of soluble fluorine compounds and soluble arsenic compounds, if necessary
with the addition of other antiseptic agents or the flammability of the wood
degrading connections etc. exist. These mixtures of substances have proven to be valuable
Preservatives proven because they are able to counteract the wood at the same time
to protect against attack by animal and vegetable pests, and also show
the advantage that in them .the fungicidal effectiveness of the fluorine compounds and
the arsenic compounds mutually favorably influenced, so that the protective effect
of the preservative the cumulative effect of the fluorine and arsenic compounds it contains
significantly exceeds.
It has now been found that in many cases it is expedient
if the arsenic compounds or fluorine compounds are sparingly soluble in water
Shape in the wood are present. The presence of these compounds in poorly soluble
Form is particularly advantageous in those cases where there is premature leaching
the preservative introduced into the wood due to the ingress of moisture,
atmospheric precipitation or soil water is to be feared. The production
the poorly soluble compounds in the wood can, for. B. be done in such a way,
that a solution is prepared which, when the water evaporates in the impregnated
Wood leaves a mixture of salts in which either the arsenic compounds or the
Fluorine compounds or both are contained in poorly soluble form, namely next to
relatively easily soluble fluorine or arsenic compounds. Except for these connections
can of course also contain other suitable fungicidal or fungicides in the preservative
Insecticidal components or those that reduce the flammability of the wood
Substances or iron protectants, etc. may be present. Instead of the difficult to dissolve
Compounds can also be produced practically insoluble compounds in water,
when under the influence of chemical changes occurring in the built-in wood
going on, the compounds in question are converted into a soluble form
will.
Beispiel i Das in einem eisernen Tränkkessel befindliche
Man unterhält diesen
verwendet man zweckmäßig ebenfalls in erwärmtem Zustande, z.
One can also proceed in such a way that the wood is successively used
impregnates two solutions that react when they come together in the wood,
so that after the wood has dried, the desired mixture of substances remains in the same.
The method described above can also be combined with this second method of operation,
by composing the first or second solution, or both, so that they
compounds that are difficult to dissolve or practically insoluble when the wood dries
retire. When impregnating the wood with two solutions, it is advisable to use the
first used solution after a saving method, e.g. B. after the so-called Rüping-
Procedure,
to introduce into the wood, after which the application of the second solution after the so-called
Full impregnation process takes place. But you can also proceed in such a way that you get the first
Introduces the solution into the wood after a saving process and then the wood after the
so-called immersion process by embedding the liquid in question in
treated in open containers. Example i The one in an iron drinking kettle
Wood winds according to the so-called Rüping process with an aqueous solution of 4%
Treated by zinc sulfate. In this process, the wood is first subjected to air pressure
from Z. B. 3 atm. exposed, and then this air pressure is maintained
the zinc sulfate solution at a temperature of 70 ° C and a liquid pressure
of 7 atm. pressed into the boiler. This pressure is maintained for an hour
whereupon the liquid is drained and the kettle is evacuated. The during the
Liquid escaping from the wood in a vacuum is drained from the boiler. then
is evacuated again. After a quarter of an hour there was a vacuum of at least 6o cm
an aqueous solution is now introduced into the boiler, the 0.5 ° 4 sodium arsenite
and 0.5 ° 4 contains fluorosodium. This liquid is kept in the boiler for so long
pressed down until the pressure rises to 8 atm. achieved. One entertains this
Pressure for 2 hours after which the liquid is drained. The second solution
is also expediently used in a heated state, e.g. B. with a temperature
of 70 ° C. EXAMPLES A solution is prepared which contains 5 parts of copper sulfate crystalline.,
Contains 8 parts of Seignette salt and 0.8 parts of sodium hydroxide in 500 parts of water.
The same quantity of a second solution is poured into this approximately 70 ° hot solution,
the 5 parts of sodium fluoride, 2 parts of sodium arsenate and 1 part of potassium dichromate in
Contains 500 parts of water. After pouring the wood together with this solution
about 70 ° soaked in an iron soaking cylinder after the full soaking process.
One can also proceed in such a way that the wood with both solutions is consecutive
soaks, the first solution expediently according to the Rüping process, the second
Introduces the solution into the wood after the full impregnation process. Example 3 It will
a salt mixture prepared, consisting of 3 y parts of ferrous sulfate crystalline., [o parts
Sodium fluoride, 10 parts of arsenic acid and 15 parts of sodium bisulfite. Of this
a 2 ° 1 "solution is prepared with gentle heating. This solution is
used at 5o ° C for impregnation.
It has already been proposed to use impregnating liquids for wood
by dissolving the fluorides, chromates, arsenates etc. of magnesium, zinc, nickel,
Manufacture cobalt, cadmium or silver in aqueous ammonia. When drying
of the wood treated with such an impregnating liquid escapes
Most of the ammonia and the fluorides, arsenates, etc. of the metals remain in
insoluble state. Used in contrast to this known method
to protect the wood according to the invention in addition to sparingly soluble fluorine or.
Arsenic compounds also contain more readily soluble protective substances containing fluorine or arsenic.
This achieves that, on the one hand, when moisture enters the wood
Sufficiently strong solutions of the protective substances can always form and that on the other hand
the less soluble compounds are non-leachable or difficult to leach
Form a reserve, which only gradually changes into a more easily soluble form and thereby
ensures permanent preservation of the wood.
