Description
Process for producing a stable, free formic acid slowly and steadily releasing product It is known that from formats by adding accordingly strong acids formic acid can be set free. But there is formic acid even a relatively strong acid, about twelve times stronger than acetic acid, is, have to be quite strong acids, z. B. mineral acids, can be used to to liberate formic acid at ordinary temperature. In any case, works for example Salicylic acid at room temperature on sodium forinlate not or not significantly with the release of formic acid.
The situation is different when there is an opportunity for the formation of complex compounds given is. Formic acid already becomes formic acid from boroformates (cf. patent specification 282 819) by organic oxyacids, oxypolycarboxylic acids, etc. with the formation of intercomplexes Borates set free. But while oxy acids, polycarboxylic acids and oxypolycarboxylic acids, like tartaric acid and citric acid, even in powder form because of their water of crystallization or their high reactivity immediately and in large quantities in a mixture with sodium boroformate Developing free formic acid has been opposed on the basis of extensive experiments found that acids of the salicylic acid type with sodium boroformate in Powder form provides completely stable mixtures.
- Salicylsäure und i Mol. Surprisingly, when these mixtures are moistened with water, e.g. B. already in contact with the moisture of the skin, only extremely slowly the complex compound of 2 mol. - salicylic acid and 1 mol. Sodium borate, which is poorly soluble under these conditions, according to the equation: Since free formic acid is also formed only very slowly and steadily under these circumstances, the products of the process can be used therapeutically if the disinfecting but not the corrosive effect of the formic acid is desired.
Salicylsäure und i Mol. Natriumboroformiat 7,56°1o Ameisensäure, aus i Mol. Salicylsäure und il)'. Mol. Satriumboroformiat 5,9d. °/o Ameisensäure, aus i. Mol. Salicylsäure und z Mol. Nätriumlioroformiat 4,89 °/o Ameisensäure entwickelt. It should be noted that a reaction of sodium boroformate with salicylic acid in dilute aqueous solution cannot take place (cf. Ber., Vol. 57 [192q.1, Part 2, pp. 1337 to 13q2). From 276 g of salicylic acid and 166 g of sodium boroformate, 46 g-10.44 "/" formic acid are obtained. Correspondingly, one mole of salicylic acid and one mole of sodium boroformate become 7.56 ° 10 formic acid, and one mole of salicylic acid and i) '. Mol. Sodium Boroformate 5.9d. ° / o formic acid, from i. Mol. Salicylic acid and z mol. Sodium chloroformate 4.89% formic acid.
Apart from the fact that a deficiency of salicylic acid itself is less Can set formic acid free, it should be borne in mind that excess sodium boroformate exerts a mitigating effect on free formic acid, similar to acetic acid is influenced by sodium acetate. Likewise, the presence of boric acid also the effects of salicylic acid can be mitigated, at any rate without any Disturbance internally and externally far larger amounts of salicylic acid than otherwise tolerated.
Instead of salicylic acid, other oxycarboxylic acids can also be used Benzene series, e.g. B. p-oxybenzoic acid can be used.
The mixtures come externally in the form of powder, balls, ointments, Plasters, bandages and the like, internally in the form of tablets, powders, pills, etc. for use.
