Description
Manufacture of ferric y-hydroxide It is well known that the hydroxides come of trivalent iron in various forms, which differ not only by content differ in terms of water of hydration, but apparently also through the electron configuration of iron itself; because the so-called y-configuration differs in the X-ray spectrum clearly from the a configuration. The former goes at about 200 ° when draining C in a particularly loose form of the y-oxide, which has ferromagnetic properties and has the ability to act biologically in the sense of catalase.
It has been found that ferric y-hydroxide can be obtained by precipitating solutions of the purest possible ferrous chloride in the presence of air or oxygen with pyridine, piperidine, aniline or other organic bases. Iron chloride solutions that have a sufficient degree of purity for the recovery of the y-hydrate are obtained, for. B. by dissolving iron obtained from iron pentacarbonyl in hydrochloric acid. Interestingly, with other acids, e.g. B. sulfuric acid, dissolved iron is not a pure y-form, but a mixture with the a-form. Example 50 g of the purest iron powder are doused with 250 cc of arsenic-free hydrochloric acid with a specific gravity of 1.2 to 1.3 . If the supernatant solution reacts neutrally to Congo paper, the excess iron is filtered through a hardened filter.
Das Filtrat wird nochmals mit 2 ccm Pyridin versetzt, und wiederum wird 2 Stunden lang Luft durchgeleitet; der sich abscheidende Niederschlag wird abfiltriert und gewaschen.zoo cc of this ferrous chloride solution are mixed with 2 cc of pyridine and air is passed through the solution at a temperature of 60 ° C. for 2 to 3 hours. The deposited precipitate is filtered and until the chlorine reaction disappears washed. The filtrate is mixed again with 2 cc of pyridine, and again is Air passed through for 2 hours; the precipitate which separates out is filtered off and washed.
