Description

Process for the preparation of a compound of humic acid with formaldehyde and ammonia. The invention relates to a method of making a compound of humic acid with formaldehyde and ammonia, which are characterized by a high solubility for uric acid and is said to be used for therapeutic purposes.

The process consists essentially in that one humic acid with Formaldehyde was added in excess and then added in portions to the liquid Shake ammonia until it is slightly oversaturated. The result is a liquid a crystalline one when evaporating slowly on Petri dishes at room temperature Leaves mass. Under the microscope this shows something like a needle or fern leaf Structure. The compound is easily soluble in water and alcohol, while in Acetone, benzene and petroleum ether are insoluble. The melting point is around zoo °. When heated above the melting point, decomposition occurs with foaming.

It is known that the action of ammonia on formaldehyde forms hexamethylenetetramine, which crystallizes in short six-sided columns. The completely different crystal structure of the preparation obtained by the above process shows that it is a new chemical compound that has been formed by the entry of the humic acid molecule into the hexamethylenetetramine group. This is also supported by the different chemical, physical and physiological properties of the new body. To produce the preparation, the following procedure can be carried out numerically: 1 kg of Casseler's brown, which consists of 96% humic acid and other humus substances, is doused with twice the amount of formaldehyde solution and finely slurried by shaking. Then 1.3 kg of ammonia with a specific gravity of 0.3 kg are added to the liquid in small portions, with further shaking, until complete neutralization has taken place. One then over-saturates with a trace of ammonia and adds about half its weight of water to the liquid and also 96% alcohol in an amount which corresponds to half of the total weight of the whole liquid. The liquid is then thickened to dryness at a temperature not exceeding qo to 50 °. The yield is about 2 kg of solid substance. The preparation can be easily crumbled and powdered and contains a high percentage of the new compound.
