Description
Process for the production of spinnable solutions of silk fibroin The acidic solutions of silk fibroin described in the patent 510 489 can be drawn into fine threads from individual nozzles without difficulty. When spinning through the nozzles with many holes that are common in artificial silk technology, however, the fiber bundle shows an undesirable tendency to stick the individual capillary threads together, even if the precipitation bath is chosen to be very long. According to the present invention, this sticking together can be restricted to such a small extent that an aftertreatment with wetting agents, soaps and the like completely exposes the individual capillary threads. This effect is achieved by adding essential oils, e.g. B. turpentine oil, to the acidic spinning solution. Very small amounts are sufficient, e.g. B. 0.02 to o, i ° / a oil addition, calculated on the spinning solution. A weak brown coloration of the spinning solution is meaningless and has no influence on the color of the finished thread. The addition of essential oil also facilitates the detachment of the individual fibers from the nozzle and thus increases the spinning reliability and the uniformity of the titer.
