Alle diese Übelstände sollen durch die Anordnung nach der Erfindung vermieden werden, die die Annäherung der Lager an die Rollen bis zum äußerst möglichen Grade gestattet, indem sogar diese Lager sich in das Innere der Rollenenden hinein erstrecken, bis sie mit den Köpfen der Rollen selbst in Berührung kommen. Der Saugkasten wird oben von einem ebenen Rahmen begrenzt, welcher aus schmalen Bändern i gebildet wird und die die einzige Reibungsfläche für das das Zeug tragende Metallband darstellen. 2 ist der Boden des Kastens, der, wie üblich, an den Seiten geschlossen und mit einem Sauganschluß 3 versehen ist. An den Seiten des Kastens befinden sich die üblichen Leitungen 4, in welchen Wasser strömt, und die dazu dienen, einen hydraulischen seitlichen Verschluß zwischen dem Band und der Saugkammer des Kastens herzustellen. Die Rollen 5 bestehen aus Röhren, in deren EndenKöpfe 5' befestigt sind, welche auf Wellen aufgezogen sind, die von Büchsen 8 getragen werden. Diese Büchsen 8 sind in den Seitenwänden des Kastens befestigt und gehen durch die Leitungen 4. hindurch, mit welchen sie eine dichte Verbindung darstellen. An der Antriebsseite sind die Wellen 7 mit Stopfbüchsen 9 versehen und tragen Antriebszahnräder i i, welche in Zwischenräder 1a eingreifen, so daß alle Rollen dieselbe Drehrichtung erhalten. Eins der Endräder i i der Rollengruppe eines Kastens steht mit einer entsprechenden Antriebsvorrichtung in Verbindung, so daß alle Rollen eine Uiufangsgeschwindigkeit erhalten, welche der Vorschubgeschwindigkeit des das Zeug tragenden Metallbandes gleich ist. Die Wellen 7 sind an dem der Antriebsseite gegenüberliegenden. Ende kürzer, und das äußere Ende der Büchse 8 trägt eine Schmierbüchse 9'. Bei den Büchsen der Antriebswelle befindet sich die Schmierbüchse seitlich.
