Die Erfindung betrifft eine weitere Verbesserung des durch Patent 511 490 geschützten Schalldämpfers für Kraftfahrzeuge u. dgl. Während bei der im Hauptpatent beschriebenen Ausführung nur ein Rohr mit hintereinanderliegenden und unmittelbar aneinanderstoßenden Düsen vorgesehen ist, sind gemäß der Erfindung neben dem. Hauptauspuffrohr mehrere mit diesem in Verbindung stehende Nebenrohre angeordnet, in denen die Düsen gleichfalls hintereinanderliegen und jede Düse ein für sich einsetzbarer und auswechselbarer Teil ist. Durch diese Verteilung der Abgase können sie schneller entweichen, so daß eine günstigere Wirkung und wirksamere Entlastung für die Maschine erreicht wird.
