Method for operating internal combustion engines, in particular diesel engines,
with powdered fuels It has been proposed to use coking products
of coal types to use for the operation of internal combustion engines.
The present invention relates to an improved method for
Utilization of these substances in internal combustion engines. It consists in being called
solid coking products, in particular smoldering residues of carbonaceous substances,
used together with superheated steam under such conditions of temperature,
that water gas formation occurs. For example, the coking residues that
in the smoldering of lignite were obtained through appropriate subsidies
directly from the generator in the absence of air via a grinding plant in which one
Processing to dust takes place, the machine, z. B. a diesel engine supplied.
Before entering the machine, there is expediently a supply of heat, for. B. by
strongly superheated steam or exhaust gases, instead, so that the temperature of the
Coke is about 600 °. Then the solid powdery ones are introduced
Residues in the machine with superheated steam, with the steam in the cylinder space
reacts immediately with the fuel to form water gas. The fuel can too
before its introduction into the machine are loaded with water vapor in such a way that
the individual fuel particles as soon as they enter the combustion chamber
are surrounded by a flammable water gas jacket. The water gas causes
an immediate ignition of the gas-air-coke mixture. It can also be used, for. B. like this
work that you can get solid coking products of ordinary temperature before their

An extensive combination of engine and coking plant is advantageous
in terms of the best possible heat utilization; z. B. the exhaust heat can also be used for pre-drying

hot parts can be obtained in the generator.
One can also help the combustion just before blowing it in
