Gerade diese Eigenschaft der Tonerdesalze, zu härten, ist aber für die Ausführung des vorliegenden Verfahrens belanglos. Es darf nicht einmal so viel Tonerde zugesetzt werden, daß eine vollständige Fällung (Härtung) des Glutims eintritt; die Glutinlösung darf nur viskoaser werden. Es ist nicht beabsichtigt, das Glutin zu härten, schon deshalb, weil dadurch der Endzweck, einen brauchbaren Textilfaden zu erhalten, der, veredelt, den vielfachen Manipulationen industrieller Färbereimethoden einwandfrei standhält, überhaupt nicht zu erreichen ist. Das Reaktionsprodukt lutin-Tonerde ist eben nur relativ wasserfest, oder, um sich eines Ausdrucks in dem obenerwähuten Kißlingschen Werk zu bedienen, nur »sogenannt wasserfest«. »Alaun fällt Leim als durchscheinende farblose Masse«.
