Extraction of copper and zinc from lyes of chlorinated roasted ores
The invention relates to the extraction before. Chlorinating copper and zinc from alkalis
roasted ores, especially chlorinated roasted gravel burns, in which the
Copper is deposited in a manner known per se with the aid of zinc oxide hydrate.
It has been shown that the further processing of the
Precipitation with zinc oxyhydrate accumulating copper oxychloride, which in many cases still
contains more or less large amounts of zinc, causes considerable difficulties,
the essentially. apart from the poor filterability of the obtained
Precipitation due to their chlorine content and the need to remove the chlorine from the
To completely eliminate further processing on copper, are conditional.
in Lösung geht.
in Lösung verbleibende
According to the invention, the copper oxychloride precipitate is made with iron chlorine lye
treated. Here the copper goes into solution as copper chloride, while the iron
is deposited as iron oxide hydrate, which in the simplest way to a hocli-, vertigen
Rotoxydfarbstoft (English red: - processed or also as gas cleaning niasse or
high-quality pure iron ore made usable «can be grounded. From the copper solution obtained
the copper is then cemented out with scrap iron, the iron being used as the chloride
goes into solution. The iron chloride solution becomes the solution of new copper oxychloride
fed back into the process. The demolished, very pure, z. B. completely
Noble metal-free copper can then z. B. be processed further on refined copper.
Since the precipitation of total copper finitely using zinc oxide hydrate only
a considerable excess of the valuable precipitant is feasible
and the use of such an excess is also not advisable because
then the copper oxychloride precipitate with possibly considerable amounts of
Zinc would be contaminated, it has been found convenient to prevent the precipitation
of the copper so that initially about 95% "of the amount present in the lye
Total amount of copper can be precipitated with Zinkozvdli_vdrat, whereupon the remaining
5 °% o according to conventional methods, e.g. B. by cementing with iron or zinc scrap,
can be deposited. In this way you get a cement copper, which
contains all precious metal and z. B. excellent for further processing
Electrolytic copper is suitable, resulting in a highly concentrated anode sludge.
The decoppered liquor can in a known manner, for. B. by freezing out, from the main amount
of the Glauber's salt frees i% -er: the. The still
remaining in solution
The remaining amount of sulphate can also be removed in a known manner with the aid of calcium chloride solution
be precipitated as plaster of paris. From the copper-free sulphate-free lye can then finally
the zinc according to known methods, e.g. B. with lime, are precipitated, with a part
the resulting zinc oxide hydrate to precipitate the copper as copper oxychloride
Find use and the calcium chloride solution for the removal of the remaining sulfate
made usable «. The zinc precipitation can optionally also be one
Cleaning of the lye must be sent in advance, e.g. B. such that the decoppered and
Desulphurized lye by treating substances such as iron, manganese with chlorinated lime
and cobalt, is exempt.
It is known to contain copper, zinc, iron, aluminum, etc.
Lye from chlorinating roasting with calcium carbonate that does not contain chlorine compounds
to precipitate the copper together with the other metals mentioned as hydrated oxides
and from the thus obtained oxide hydrate mixtures by treatment with iron chloride, under
Addition of calcium carbonate for complete separation of the iron chlorine
resulting iron oxide hydrate to bring the copper into solution as chlorine. the
The end products of the overall conversion are on the one hand a solution of copper chloride
and calcium chloride and on the other hand a mixture of the precipitates of the various
named Oxydhydrates together with excess Calcilrincarboriat. From the copper-containing
Solution is supposed to oxidize the copper by blowing in air with alkali or
Final alkali carbonates are precipitated. But there is the one containing the iron oxide hydrate
Precipitation mixture due to the admixture of foreign metal compounds
of the excess calcium carbonate is completely unusable, goes with these known
Process lost all iron continuously fed into the process.
Stoffe erhalten, welches ohne weiteres z.
In contrast, according to the present process, a chlorideic copper solution is used
on the one hand a solution of copper chloride containing essentially only zinc chloride
and on the other hand from the treatment of the copper oxychloride obtained with zinc oxide hydrate
with iron chlorine lye a pure iron oxide hydrate without contamination by others
Get substances that can easily be used for. B. can be used as a dye, while
the iron chlorine obtained from the scrap iron used when cementing out the copper
can be used again and again for the new treatment of copper oxychloride, so
that in this process all of the iron added to the process ends up being
is recovered in usable form. On the other hand, from the solution obtained
of copper chloride during cementation, the copper is free of precious metals in such a pure form
obtained that it is readily available for. B. be processed further on refined copper
can.
