Lösungs- und Weichmachungsmittel für plastische massen, Harze, Lacke,
Öle, Farbstoffe, # Essenzen, Riechstoffe und andere organische Stoffe Es wurde gefunden,
daß die Ester von solchen Fettsäuren mit verzweigter Kohlenstoffkette, die im Molekühl
sechs oder mehr Kohlenstoffatome und, außer in den Carboxylgruppen, keinen Sauerstoff
enthalten, ausgezeichnete Lösungs- und Weichmachungsmittel für Celluloseester und
-äther, Harze, Wachse, Kautschuk, Riechstoffe, Farbstoffe, Fette, Öle und viele
andere organische Stoffe sind. Die Ester sind daher in vielseitigster Weise verwendbar,
wobei die Auswahl im Einzelfalle sich nach den jeweils zu stellenden Anforderungen
richtet. Die niedriger siedenden Ester sind flüchtig und haben einen angenehmen,
fruchtähnlichen Geruch, während die höher siedenden Ester eine mit steigendem Siedepunkt
abnehmende Flüchtigkeit besitzen und nur schwach riechen. Die Ester haben ferner
die wertvolle Eigenschaft, nicht hygroskopisch zu sein. Die mit ihnen hergestellten
Lösungen von Celluloseestern u. dgl. können weitgehend mit beliebigen anderen Lösungs-
oder Verdünnungsmitteln oder mit Mischungen solcher verschnitten werden und liefern
klare, geschmeidige Filme. Beispiel i 5 Gewichtsteile Kollodiumwolle werden in 35o
Gewichtsteilen Methylpropylessigsäureäthylester vom Siedepunkt 145 bis i55° C gelöst
und mit 6oo Gewichtsteilen Äthylalkohol verdünnt. Die Lösung liefert klare, transparente
