Gegenstand des vorliegenden Zusatzpatentes ist die Herstellung von wasserfesten gefärbten überzügen auf anderen Materialien als Metallen unter Verwendung von Anfärbemitteln, welche hergestellt werden durch Zusatz von Tannin oder von anderen wasserlöslichen Verbindungen mit freien Phenolhydroxylgruppen, die keinen Farbstoffcharakter besitzen, zu einer Suspension von basischen Farbstoffen in Aceton oder in anderen Lösungsmitteln oder Lösungsmittelgernischen, welche fettlösend und gleichzeitig mit Wasser mischbar sind. Beispielsweise können Papiere, Zellstoff usw., aber auch Kies, Schmirgel, Asbest usw., also Substanzen, die sonst nur schwer anzufärben sind, durch Behandeln mit Lösungen dieser Art in allen Farbtönen wasserfest gefärbt werden. Ein besonderes Verwendungsgebiet hat dieses Verfahren für den Papierdruck und für die Krepp- und Seidenpapierfärb#erei, wie überhaupt dort, wo es darauf ankommt, dünnflüssige, aber ausgiebige Druckfarben anzuwenden, die leicht aufgenommen, schnell trocknen und wasserfest fixiert werden sollen. Man hat bisher hierzu alkoholische Lösungen basischer Farbstoffe verwendet. Gesättigte Lösungen dieser Art sind jedoch meist zu farbschwach und liefern zu dünne Drucke, während übersättigte Lösungen den Farbstoff ausscheiden und infolge Mitaufdrucks ungelöster Papierstoffpartikelchen Drucke lieferA, die weder wasser- noch wischfest sind. Da die Tanninverbindungen der basischen Farbstoffe in den üblichen Lösungsmitteln leichter löslich und intensiver gefärbt sind als die entsprechenden Lösungen basischer undspritlöslicher Farbstoffe allein, kann man nach diesem Verfahren konzentriertere und haltbarere Farbstofflösungen herstellen, als dies **) Früheres Zusatzpatent 44o5o9. mit reinen Farbstoffen möglich ist.
