Description
B. Benzin, Benzol, Alkoholen. Method for protecting wool and the like against) moth damage the remarkable observation that in general organic fluorine compounds, which contain one or more 1 # fluorine atoms bonded to the carbon, an excellent Protection. against moths and damage from other textile pests. As suitable have z. B. proven: fluorine-substituted hydrocarbons, Carboxylic acids and their derivatives, also fluorine-substituted benzene, its homologues and substitution products. The application of these new protective agents can be different Way. So you can z. B. the compounds soluble in organic solvents in suitable solvents, e.g. B. gasoline, benzene, alcohols. Acetone, cyclohexanone tisw. spray dissolved onto the objects to be protected or the objects soak with it, or otherwise wet it. On the other hand, you can use the water-soluble Compounds (in free form or as water-soluble salts) in aqueous solution, z. B. act in the manner of a dyeing process on the objects to be treated let, where appropriate the addition of organic and inorganic salts and acids or even full wetting agents can be advantageous. Of course it can you also proceed in such a way that the goods are dyed and impregnated at the same time. Depending on The nature of the objects to be treated may also include other methods of impregnation can be applied.
Example i Wool is dissolved in an aqueous solution of the sodium salt impregnated with 3-nitro-4-fluoro-i-benzoic acid. The wool so treated is in contrast treated too vainly with an equally strong solution of sodium 3-nitrobenzoate not eaten by moths.
Beispiel i oo kg Wolle werden in i ooo 1 Wasser lilit 2 kg 1lonofluoressigsäure '/.,Stunde behandelt. B. von Netzmitteln.EXAMPLE 100 kg of wool are dissolved in 100 liters of water with 2 kg of monofluoroacetic acid '/., Hour treated. The treatment can be hot depending on the type of dyeing process or cold in the manner of impregnation, with and without the addition of inorganic or organic salts, such as. B. of wetting agents.
The goods treated in this way are excellent against moth damage protected, while a wool treated in the same way with acetic acid against Moth damage is not protected. Example: Throw 3 100 kg of wool in a solution of q. kg of i-fluoronaphthalene-5-sulfonic acid in 10000 1 of water in the in Example ? treated way. The wool is treated for Moth worms inedible, while one treated with naphthalene sulfonic acid as above Wool like untreated is subject to your moth damage. Example In a well lockable Containers are kept fur and the like in the presence of fluoropseudocumene. The vapor layer formed by fluoropseudocumene protects the goods from damage by moth caterpillars.
If, on the other hand, the same 1, length pseudocumene is used instead of fluoropseudocumene used, the protective effect against moth damage is completely inadequate. example s In a well-lockable disinfestation machine, objects that have been mothballed, such as Upholstered furniture exposed to intensive fluoroform exposure for 2.4 hours. The treatment causes the destruction of the pest, as otherwise only by the flammable carbon disulfide and that which is just as dangerous because of its toxicity Hydrocyanic acid is achieved and is far superior to chloroform in terms of effectiveness. example 6 The goods to be treated are mixed with a solution full of 2 parts by weight 4 .. 4 = DifluO: - diplienvl treated in 100 parts by weight of an organic solvent so that after evaporation the solution i.3 "/" Difluc; r (lil) henvl remains on the goods.
The treatment protects the goods from moth damage. the the same amount of Diphenvl deposited on the goods does not show any protective effect.
