Hand-lt es sich um sehr große Mengen, so ist es nicht mehr möglich, durch einen einzelnen Flachschieber das Gut abzusperren, und man hat sich zu diesem Zwecke geholfen, indem man den Schieber in einzelne kleine Schieber unterteilte, wodurch die Bewegung des Schiebers nur geringfügig ist. Bei dieser Anordnung tritt jedoch häufig der übelstand ein, daß die Schieber sich außerordentlich schwer bewegen, und es hat sich gezeigt, daß dafür hauptsächlich zwei Gründe verantwortlich zu machen sind.
