Abstract
Rail vehicle has a driver's seat and deformable area. An area which cannot be deformed is there to provide a survival space for the driver. The driver's seat is wholly or partly attached outside the survival space on to a structural element. This element is connected to the non-deformable area only, by the floor or one or more walls, and not to the deformable area. The deformable area is in front of, next to and/or underneath the structural element. The driver's control panel is fastened on the structural element. In front of the seat is an impact wall separate from the structural element.
