Der Kopf 14, welcher zwecks Erhöhung seiner Brechwirkung eine gezahnte Schneide 16 besitzen kann, weist eine große Masse und eine im Verhältnis zur Flözmächtigkeit große Höhe auf; auf diese verhältnismäßig große Masse schlägt der gleichfalls große Masse aufweisende Zylinder 32 mit seinem Rammkopf 33 auf, so daß trotz einer geringen Angriffsgeschwindigkeit, die das Werkzeug erhalten soll, also bei einer niedrigen Gangzahl des Zylinders, der Keilkopf mit einer großen Massenwucht auf das hereinzubrechende Mineral einwirkt. Das über dem - Keilkopf verbleibende hangende Mineral fällt zumeist von selbst nach.
