Abstract

The invention relates to a cable-operated elevator system (10) comprising an elevator car which can move along first and second guide rails (12, 14) which are located opposite each other by means of a drive motor (20) which is provided with a driving sheave (22) for the cable of said elevator car. The elevator car is connected to a counterweight. The drive motor (20) is arranged at the lower end of the elevator shaft (26) on the bottom of said elevator shaft inside a projection surface (28) of the elevator car whereby said projection surface is laterally defined by the guide rails (12, 14) and on a portal device (18) whereby the first guide rail (12) which is shortened lengthwise to a degree corresponding to the height of the portal device (18) extends therefrom in a vertical, upward direction. The cable driving sheave (22) is connected to the drive motor (20) in order to transmit torque and is disposed on the second side (30) of the drive motor (20) opposite the vertical guide rail (14).
