Derartige Elektroden haben den Vorteil, daß sie gegenüber ätzenden Gasen oder Dämpfen sehr widerstandsfähig sind, wobei ihre Leitfähigkeit für die Zuführung des elektrischen Stromes noch ausreicht. Ein Nachteil dieser Elektroden besteht aber in ihrer geringen Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen mechanische Erschütterungen. Der Asbestschiefer wird bekanntlich derart hergestellt, daß Asbest unter Beimengung eines Bindemittels zu Platten gepreßt wird. Derartige Elektroden sind einerseits ebenso widerstandsfähig wie die bisher verwendeten gegen ätzende Dämpfe, andererseits halten sie aber weit besser Erschütterungen aus. Sie lassen sich außerdem leicht sägen oder auf ähnliche Weise in beliebige Form bringen, ohne zu zerspringen. Ebenso können sie leicht z.
