Container of Patent 467,970 The one shown in Patent 467,970
Explanations only take into account the case in which the contents of the container have a
stronger pressure on the inside .der wall than z. B. the air pressure
their outside. Conversely, however, the wall of the container can also be seen from the outside
Stand overpressure. In this case, according to the invention, the individual plates
with inclined flanges existing print arches directed outwards.
In Figs. I to 4 is an embodiment of the new container
shown, in which the structural details of the external pressure effect
are adapted. Fig. I shows a plan, Fig. 2 a partial elevation, Fig.3 a
Partial plan and Fig. 4 a type of design of the plate flanges of the container.
In Abb. i stellen die Kreisflächen A, B
In Fig. I, the circular areas A, B and C represent the plan of any device which is to operate under negative pressure. As a result of these operating conditions, the plates i, 2 and 3 of a plate holder serving as a jacket are to be put together in such a way that they can withstand the pressure from the outside to the inside as best as possible, and this is done by forming wall vaults that are directed outwards. The wall vaults are similarly disks with obliquely set flanges which are formed according to the patent 467,970. It is also possible to use plates with vertically attached flanges between which wedge inserts 4 are arranged. The latter type of wall formation is shown in the lower part of Fig. I. The wedge pieces can either only be screwed to the adjoining plates when the container is being built, or a plate (with straight flanges) is connected to the corresponding wedge piece (s) from the outset and then treated like a plate with inclined flanges. The wall vaults are stiffened by vertical uprights 8 made of U-iron, which are connected to one another by horizontal tie rods 7. However, instead of a tie rod, a compression rod must be arranged between the central uprights 8 in order to prevent the container from being compressed. The uprights 8 are connected to the nearest plate flanges by short pieces of angle iron 9; these angle iron pieces are omitted for the sake of clarity in Fig. i, but can be seen in Figs. 2 and 3.
Fig. 2 is a partial elevation of the container showing that
the lid 5 rests on a seat plate 6, which with the upper flanges of the top
Row of panels is screwed and intended to compensate for the zigzag shape of the wall
is so that the lid can have a rectangular seat. Furthermore one recognizes from
this figure that the connecting parts 7 and io of the stand 8 near the upper edge
of the container and do not disturb the contents of the container. The lower ends
the stands 8 are connected to each other through the container bottom.
In Fig. 3 details of the connection are on one edge of the container
of the stand 8 with the wall panels on the one hand and with the connecting parts 7, io
on the other hand shown enlarged. Both in this figure and in Fig. 4
a special type of sealing for abutting plate flanges is shown.
The plate flanges are provided with troughs in which a wire or
Tape made of soft metal or putty is inserted.
