Description

Extraction of hydrochloric acid from waste liquors in bleaching earth production Production of fuller's earth from white earth using hydrochloric acid produces waste liquor in large quantities, consisting mainly of water, free hydrochloric acid and the chlorides of iron and aluminum. In order to recover the hydrochloric acid from this waste liquor, it has already been proposed to subject the waste liquor to distillation. this has the disadvantage that the free Acid in the aqueous forerun goes and therefore due to its low concentration is practically worthless. Only through the subsequent thermal decomposition of the chlorides acid of usable concentration is obtained.

The present process also enables free acid to be obtained in such high concentration to obtain, as it is obtained with the mentioned thermal decomposition of the chlorides. This is achieved by mixing the hydrochloric acid waste liquor with oxides of such metals or with such metals themselves or other suitable compounds of metals is brought into contact, the chlorides of which again during the thermal decomposition split off free hydrochloric acid. These additives make the free acid of metal ions bound and thereby before premature distillation with the; watery forerunner preserved. In the present method, the flow consists only of water while the remaining solid chlorides smoothly into high-percentage acid gas and oxides be split. The remaining oxides are partly used again for neutralization such waste liquors are used, some processed otherwise.

The fact that the free acid in the waste liquor by the Process is bound, the processing of the waste liquor is greatly facilitated, since an acid-proof apparatus no longer has to be used. You can z. Am proceed as follows: The waste liquor treated according to your process is from inside heated hollow rollers passed, so that the water evaporates and the chlorides can be obtained in solid form. The solid chloride "earth" adhering to the roller continuously removed downwards by scraper, at the same time the water vapor is resistant sucked off. The iron and aluminum chlorides obtained in this way are known in the art Way broken down into acids and oxides. The waste liquor can also be heated from below Let surfaces, for example grooved sheets, flow, which also causes the chlorides can be obtained in solid form.
