Description
Process for the extraction of pure clay. When it comes to technology, the If residues containing aluminum melt together, so-called scabies, which after removal of the metallic aluminum it contains with the help of a special sieving process about 50 percent acid-soluble aluminum, for the most part as oxide contains; the rest to i oo percent are other metals such as tin, lead, copper, Zinc, iron, magnesium and the like. These residues were previously considered worthless from the Operation removed and thus formed a source of loss.
The method according to the present invention makes it possible on a technical basis easy and cheap way the acid-soluble aluminum in the form of pure clay to be obtained almost completely, namely with regeneration of the ones used for dissolving Acid.
According to the invention, those treated as containing aluminum during fusion Residues containing tin, lead, copper, zinc, iron, magnesium and the like Scabies after sieving the metallic aluminum with hydrochloric acid, whereupon the Dissolution of the metal salts in a manner known per se by introducing hydrochloric acid gas Precipitated aluminum chloride. and this is then annealed.
Processes for the extraction of alumina have already been proposed, in which the excretion of aluminum chloride with hydrochloric acid gas from relative pure solutions. These solutions contain essentially the impurity only iron salts. In the present case, however, is a to use very impure raw material for the production of alumina. The strong ones So far, impurities have made it seem impossible to turn scabies into clay to win. It has now been shown that with the help of hydrochloric acid gas it is possible to also from heavily contaminated aluminum chloride solutions for the production of Aluminum oxide to obtain enough pure aluminum chloride.
The method has the advantage that you can waste materials with a large Can use benefits that have hitherto been unusable. The procedure has a considerable economic importance, since it leads to a reduction in imports foreign raw materials (bauxide) are working towards this.
The procedure is carried out in such a way that the scabies in commercially available Dissolved hydrochloric acid and the residue is separated from the solution by suction filtration. Hydrochloric acid gas is introduced into the solution of a certain concentration Use of countercurrent flow and deep freezing; the precipitated aluminum chloride is separated from the mother liquor by means of a centrifuge. The aluminum chloride is then an annealing process at temperatures up to Subjected to 700 ° C, whereby clay and hydrochloric acid are formed. The clay had an iron content of o, I percent and is therefore very suitable for aluminum production. That while glowing escaping hydrochloric acid gas is used to precipitate further amounts of aluminum chloride used. The one resulting from the precipitation process. Hydrochloric acid mother liquor becomes the Dissolving station for scabies is supplied and remains in circulation until through the Accumulation of the various metals is an impurity in the precipitated aluminum chloride would occur. So z. B. a mother liquor of composition 82nd, 4 g A1208, 1.8 g Pb0, 2.0 g CUO, 9, I g Fe203, 9.49 Zn0 per liter used three more times before contamination of the aluminum chloride by, for example, zinc would have to be proven. The mother liquor is then evaporated, the in the first Parts of the salt-acid vapors released by evaporation are also used for precipitation will. The remaining amounts of thin hydrochloric acid with a content of about 20 percent HCl is converted into commercially available HCl by introducing concentrated hydrochloric acid gas Hydrochloric acid processes and serve to dissolve new scabies.
