Abstract

The crash helmet has chin guards (5) which are inserted and fixed into a locking mechanism (3a) and enable differently designed or protective chin guards to be used, depending on the drivers head shape. The locking mechanism is positioned on the underneath edge of the crash helmet which can also be worn without a chin guard.

Man muß in diesem Falle den Helm wechseln. Es gibt z. B. keinen Helm, der sowohl als vollwertiger offener Helm ohne Kinnschutz als auch als Helm mit Kinnschutz bei gleicher Schale genutzt werden kann. Im Zusammenhang mit dem Wort "vollwertig" möchte ich hier auf den BMW-Helm eingehen, der ein hochklappbares Kinnteil hat, das jedoch in offen getragenem Zustand hoch über den Helm ragt, so daß schnelles Fahren nicht möglich ist, weil der Luftwiderstand sehr hoch ist und somit der Kopf nicht gerade gehalten werden kann.
