Bei der bisher gebräuchlichen Art, das Auftragen des in einer Dose befindlichen -Schuhputzmittels mit einer Bürste vorzunehmen, war ein Anfassen der Dose und damit ein Beschmutzen der Hände nicht zu umgehen. Mit Hilfe des neuen Gerätes kann jedoch das Schuhputzmittel aus der Dose entnommen und aufgetragen werden, ohne daß man die Dose vor jedesmaligem Auftragen anzufassen braucht. Zu diesem Zwecke besteht das Gerät aus einem mit Handgriff versehenen Holzkörper, der mit einer Aussparung o. dgl. zur Aufnahme der Schuhputzdose versehen ist. Unterhalb der unverschlossenen runden oder eckigen Blechdose, von der vorher der Verschlußdeckel abgenommen ist, lagert eine zweckmäßig walzenförmige Bürste drehbar, so daß die Blechdose mit ihrem eigenen Gewicht und dem ihres Inhalts gegen die dem Putzmittel gerade zugewandten Borsten der drehbaren Bürste drückt. Um nun zunächst die Bürste mit dem erforderlichen Schuhputzmittel zu versehen, bewegt man das Gerät in einer zur Bürstenachse möglichst senkrechten Richtung, wodurch sich die Bürste auf dem Schuh abrollt und am Inhalt der Dose vorbeibewegt. Ist· nun hierdurch genügend Schuhputzmittel von der Bürste aufgenommen worden, so wird zum eigentlichen Auftragen des Putzmittels das Gerät in Richtung der Bürstenachse hin und her bewegt, wie man es auch genau mit der gewöhnlichen Auftragsbürste zu tun pflegt. Erst nach Verreiben des Schuhputzmittels, das sich an der mit dem Schuh in Berührung stehenden Bürstenseite befindet, erfolgt, falls noch neues Putzmittel benötigt wird, eine Bewegung des Gerätes senkrecht zur Bürstenachse und damit eine Aufnahme von weiterem Putzmittel.
