Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an interference silencer for the exhaust system of a motor vehicle in the preamble of Claim mentioned type, such as from the EP-0 279 710-B1 is known.
Interference silencers take advantage of the effect that Schwin conditions of the same wavelength λ, which by half a wavelength λ / 2 are out of phase with one another in their effect to lift.
In order to take advantage of this effect for the noise damping of periodic pressure waves in fluids conveyed through a line, it is known (e.g. DE-AS 14 75 701, Fig. 1, Fig. 3; DE-GM 74 11 202 or EP-0 279 710-B1) to branch the line pipe into at least two differently long partial pipes and then to combine these partial pipes again to form a common line pipe. Due to the different lengths of the partial pipe, there are phase shifts between the partial flows, the size of which depends on the length difference of the partial pipes. With appropriate dimensioning of the partial pipe lengths, the most annoying frequencies in terms of noise can be damped or eliminated in the common conduit located behind the partial pipes. The damping is very much dependent on the precise coordination of the partial pipe lengths (phase). An exact interference damping is therefore only possible in principle in those gas systems whose internal combustion engines operate at a practically constant speed and in which the temperature of the flow medium in the various partial pipes remains at least approximately constant, since temperature fluctuations also influence the speed of sound conditions the conduits.
A well-known interference silencer for the exhaust system of a motor vehicle (EP-0 279 710-B1) is in the form of a a first and a second partial pipe of different lengths branching and then reuniting pipe forms which between the exhaust manifold of the combustion engine tors and the usual muffler of the vehicle is switched.
While the one pipe of this interference silencer consists of a simple continuous tube is inside the second partial pipe guided in parallel to this is a so-called Transverse silencer inserted.
This well-known interference silencer is based on a be tuned frequency tuned, namely so that just the Schwin conditions that correspond to the harmonic with the frequency 1.5 n Chen by interference at the output of the interference silencer be damped, where n is the normal speed of combustion voltage motor.
A hand specially designed for combustion engines Circular saws and lawnmowers designed known interference ge silencer (DE-OS 28 28 006) consists of several in a row other switched damper stages, each consisting of two Flow paths of different lengths branch off and on finally reuniting paths exist. The single ones Damper levels are each at a certain as particularly disturbing perceived frequency tuned. In an execution case the individual damper levels are each different Frequencies matched. In another embodiment the damper levels, however, tuned to the same wavelength or at least the first two stages on one wavelength, which corresponds to the frequency at which the combustion mo gate generates the greatest noise. In the conception and the explanation of how this interference ge works muffler is u. a. also to those familiar from acoustics So-called "Koenig pipes" pointed out that a solid U-shaped tube with two on the two U-legs ordered openings and a second U-shaped curved Tube that is slidably disposed on the first tube, be stand and which to demonstrate the interference effect nen, d. H. to prove that if one in front of one of the two Openings make a tuning fork vibrate at the other opening depending on the position of the sliding tube on the fixed tube Clearly minima and maxima of audibility are perceptible where where the minima suddenly appear when they go through the two parallel tubes of the waves of the sound vibrations are in opposite phase before the exit opening.
Any constructive consequences from this are at Conception of the well-known interference silencer, however not been pulled apart from transferring the reason teach that namely a noise dampening interference effect occurs when vibrations in opposite phase are the same cher wavelength are superimposed on each other.
With another be designed for pneumatic tools knew interference silencers (DE-GM 74 11 202) in the form one different in a first and a second partial tube branch large pipe length and then reunite In one exemplary embodiment, the conduit is without further He purification of the purpose suggested the length difference of the the branch lines by sliding line parts on top of each other to be variable. It is suspected that this shift possibility to serve the difference in length of the two Sub-lines directly on site, d. H. at the pneumatic plant to adjust stuff and then fix it.
Against this background, the invention is based on the object a particularly effective one with comparatively little effort Interference silencers for the exhaust system of a motor vehicle stuff of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 create.
This object is achieved by the features of Pa claim 1 solved. Advantageous refinements and further educations are specified in the subclaims.
The interference silencer according to the invention stands out characterized in that the effective tube length at least one of the the partial pipes can be changed by an actuator, so that the Characteristics of the silencer in a simple way and very effectively to the changing Be while driving drive conditions can be adjusted.
Based on an embodiment shown in the drawing the invention is explained in more detail below.
The only figure of the drawing shows in a principle Dar position the internal combustion engine 1 and the exhaust system of a motor vehicle.
In order to reduce the engine-related noise development of the vehicle beyond the usual level, in the exhaust pipe 11 leading from the combustion engine 1 to the usual silencer 2, a controllable interference silencer 3 is additionally interposed in the form of a conduit 4 , which is numbered 12 in one Branching point branches into two pipes 5 , 6 ver different lengths of pipe l 1 , l 2 , which then unite in a downstream pipe point 13 again to the pipe 4 .
The flowing through the exhaust pipe 1 to the muffler 2 pul sizing exhaust gas flow is thus divided into two sub-streams at the branch point 12 , which are merged downstream in the line point 13 as that. Because of the different lengths of pipe l 1 , l 2 of the two partial pipes 5 , 6 , the two partial flows in line point 13 are phase-shifted with respect to one another, which is connected to a corresponding noise damping as a result of interference. The size of the phase shift and the interference effect on the frequency mixture of the exhaust gas flow depends on the length difference or the ratio of the two pipe lengths.
Frequenzspektrum besitzt. The internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle must of course work at very different speeds, so that the exhaust gas stream flowing through the exhaust pipe 11 also has a correspondingly broad pulsation or frequency spectrum.
In order to achieve an additional noise reduction adapted to the operationally changing conditions with the additional interference noise damper 3 , the interference interference noise damper is not formed as a permanently adjusted device, but is variable with respect to its pipe lengths or its ratio, ie depending on designed to be changeable by one or more prevailing operating parameters.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, one of the two partial tubes, namely partial tube 5, is designed as a fixed piece of pipe that cannot be changed in length, while the second partial tube 6 is displaced relative to the first partial tube 5 by means of an actuator 9 controlled by a control and regulating device 10 , and thereby can be adjusted in its effective pipe length l 2 . For this purpose, telescopable pipe sections 7 , 8 are provided at the beginning and at the end of this partial tube, which are aligned parallel to each other, so that this second partial tube 6 as in the Koenig tube known from acoustics or similar to a trombone on the solid supporting it Pipe stubs can be moved in one or the other direction.
The change in the effective pipe length 12 can take place depending on one or more operating parameters of the vehicle, for. B. in dependence on the engine speed n or in dependence on detected by not shown sensors Ren particularly disturbing frequencies f of the exhaust gas cal.
Since the noise emitted by a motor vehicle exhaust system at higher driving speeds in relation to wind and tire noise is much less important than at lower driving speeds, it may be sufficient or advantageous to control and regulate the interference muffler 3 only below a predetermined ver comparatively low speed v of the vehicle by z. B. in city traffic.
In the illustrated embodiment, only one of the two partial tubes adjustable in length, what in the most cases is quite sufficient to within a certain Speed range particularly disturbing frequencies of the Ab effectively reduce gas noises.
The possibilities for effective noise reduction are increased considerably, however, if the effective tube length of the second partial tube can be adjusted by an appropriate actuator, because the interference silencer 3 can then be matched even better to the wavelengths of the vibrations of the exhaust gas stream, which are perceived as particularly disturbing can.
